Removing bolts from stock exhaust system

I started to install my GReddy SP2 catback last night. I removed the stock muffler and catback but i cannot for the life of me get the bolts off of the stock midpipe. I am thinking about grinding the end off and drilling them out as i have new bolts for the system.

I used PBBlaster on the bolts 3 times now and they still won't fall out.

Anyone have any better ideas??

Maybe try heating them up a little, do it at small intervals and keep trying to remove them as you go. If you over heat they might pinch tighter (if that makes sense)

i already beat the s*** out of them with a hammer trying to get them out... they are not threaded in there, the head of the bolt is just rusted to the midpipe flange. The nuts on the catback side are already off and the stock catback is off the car... i just need to find a way to get the bolts out of the midpipe's flange. Still think im gonna cut them off and drill them out.

i used wd-40
i sprayed it on the bolts the day before and drove around a while
it came right off the next day with a breaker bar

maybe if you have it on a lift you can get under it and get it off that way instead of on jackstands and at a horrible angle

The thing that sucks is the head of the bolt is an odd shape. it is flat on both sides and round on the top and bottom. It is in between a 17mm socket and a 19mm socket, but it isn't a normal hex bolt head.

hold on wait your just installing the catback right? if so then why are you trying to get the bolts out of the mid pipe? why dont you just reuse them and the nuts and tighten everything back up to your sp2 catback

because one of the nuts was stripped all to hell so we had to grind it off. Impact gun wouldn't even take it off. The whole area is rusted bad because the previous owner used the car on his farm.... So I am going to reuse one of the bolts but i have to get the other off since we ground it off. I guess drilling it out is my only option.

+1 you can only either drill it out or take off the mid-pipe completely and use a hammer on the top side of the bolt to smash it out

taking a grinder and a drill to it after work... we'll see what happens. Oh and the whole reason i am replacing the exhaust is my stock muffler cracked open between the axle and the back of the muffler...

With your mods, you should get a catless or catted downpipe depending on TN emission laws. Get rid of that factory choker 2 cat unit. I'm using a catless one along with my SP2.
