645 am: driving to Gainsville (71mi trip), notice car driving erratically, car slows down in right lane on 3 lane road, I drive byin left lane. I think to myself "this guy is ****** up." 4 miles later I'm in the right lane then....WHAM! I'm like "WTF." Driver I pegged as "****** up" has just rearended me. I motion for him to pull over and the SOB jumps the curb into the supermarket parking lot and takes off. I give chase and block him in the parking lot. He almost hits me again but plows threw some bushes and jumps the curb again back onto the main road. I'm calling *FHP on my cell and I get his plate #. The trooper on the phone tells me to "cease and dissest" my pursuit. I get a good description of guy and pull over. 10 minutes later troopers show up and question me. Apparently others have called 911 when they saw what happened. Driver has suspended license for DUI'S and no insurance. Cops chase him down an arrest him. My car has 3k+ damage and I'm pissed.

I will end up eating the 250.00 deductible and will be without a car for 2-3 weeks. Apparently the hatch has to come from somewhere far away. My car that just turned 5k looks like s***.

Just want to rant. (protest)

The guy that sideswiped me in my Eclipse already had 2 DUIs and that night he got his third. But he was probably out driving around a week later.

When things like this happen, I prefer to think it's keeping you from something more serious happening. Say, keep you from a roll-over accident a mile down the road or keep this bonehead from plowing over someone. No one is hurt, so things could have been much worse.

I can explain...but I shouldn't have to. the type of service/treatment/price you get from someone that's your "friend" versus just some shmo can vary a great deal.

I got hit by some FH back in January.... homez didn't speak a lick of english (I made sure I told him how I felt about him running the red light in his native tongue) and of course... no insurance. long story short... I brought my car to a guy I've seen at various networking events... cool guy but definitely not a 'friend'. same time, I knew he did extraordinary work so he was my 1st choice... before giving him the business, I did my best to befriend him (by basically doing the opposite of what most people do when they talk to 'lowly' bodyshop guys) it was sincere... no doubt. but it was also strategic.... just like being nice to the dude in the drive-thru . result: in addition to him making sure I got all new parts, he also made sure the appraisor inflated the estimate by $500 (to make up for my deductable) AND... as if that wasn't enough, he also told him that the chip/scrape on my rear bumper (mind you I got hit in the front) was from this accident..... so I had both replaced and it cost me nothing.


Believe it or not, you're in an enviable position. I mean... your sub and amp need to be replaced now (something about a rear collision that seems to cause harm... even if they don't exist) and let's not forget about your catback exhaust. it's a real shame that prick knocked it off its hangers rendering it useless. look on the brightside, at least you'll get a new amp/sub/catback exhaust out of the deal.

as far as trying to squeeze some drop of positivity out of a pretty bad experience, yeah... no prob! anyone who's ever been involved in an accident (that wasn't their fault) with someone without insurance (like I have) would probably agree that it's perfectly acceptable to try to even things out at least a little. If the guy had insurance... guess who's paying the deductable. That's right, he is! (At least in my state) because he doesn't... oh that's right, you are! the victim!! that's fair

Loose = neurologist. But yea, I went to the ED and got checked out. The diagnosis was contused lumbar and cervical spine. ie: they gave me muscle relaxers and vicodan and set me home for 2 days.

Loose, contact a lawyer immediately. Just because this drunk loser doesn't have insurance, doesn't mean you should be out $0.01. It's also possible/likely that your insurance company will be suing him for the damages, and if they do sue and recover, I'm pretty sure they're obligated to refund you your deductible. Talk to your insurance agent. Find out if they're going to sue, ask whether that prevents you from also suing. They'll know.
