Diff. Snapped In Half!! Getting Replaced!!!

I didn't break anything else but as has alreay been said things can break. You have to open the case and see if there is any damage.

I have yet to break my lsd.. I have broken a few other parts in my trans though.. In fact, its apart right now awaiting some parts to be finished up.. Im getting my lsd welded this afternoon.. Its out of the trans.. Its really easy to get out too.. Here's some pics of the inside of my trans..

Well Im in the process of replacing mine as we speak. I want to know what else normailly tears up when they do go out? Is the clutch damaged? Fly wheel? And gears or shift forks? What are the odds of anything else breaking in there? Im going with the quafi and upgraded gear kit from prtegegarage.com I want to change the flywheel out while Im in there. I found a place in clarksville that said theyll do the work for 200 if I take the tranny out. Of I think thats a great deal. I know I dont want to do it in this heat.

Getting the trans apart is fairly simple.. You just gotta have an impact to get the shaft nuts loose.. Then everything just pulls off until you get to the bearings..

In a few days I will see if this MSP has a broken welded LSD. Welding might not be doing much.

Wont that throw off the balance on the diff? Who welded that? What shop dod you take it to? Why didnt you just go with the upgraded one from street unit? Its 529.00 shipped.

Some have ruined gears and housings, one guy I recall trashing the majority of his tranny. Of course, he continued to try to put it in gear and engauge/disengauge the clutch, repeatedly, ignoring the horrific noises all the while.

Your stock clutch is just fine for the numbers you'll be running unless you've got semi-big to big plans. The same goes with the hardened gears-- really aren't necessary. Your biggest priority after the LSD would be to replace the rods with forged if you're boosting over 8 psi.

OK. I have a stage 2 clutch already and Im forged already also. Of going with the quafi and 10psi whats the week link then?

The upgraded one still breaks, so you still have to wed it. People say the original one grabs better.

I know that, just curious what else can break?

My comment regarding engine management and an upgraded intercooler wasn't in reference to them being breakage-prone; I was referring to them being a "weak link" in the sense that they're your next major impedences.

yeah it looks like a slag of s***
THIS is good welding

^^ Beautiful welds. No offense Itslow, but that guy was either blind, or had never touched a welder's torch before touching your LSD. I'd grind that down and start over.

Also If the welds are not balanced all the way around you can get some vibration from it. And that diff doesn't look even close.
