I had a long term rental Xterra. 13mpg and an extraordinarily uncomfortable ride.

Was not a fan.

Sorry to hear that, ours is great! Never have to worry about getting stuck with the 2 wheel and, 4wheel Hi and Lo.

Glad we bought it over the pilot, and highlander we test drove. Both drove to much like minivans.

I'm not a fan of the new body style. I like the first gen Xterras. A friend of mine had a Frontier (which is an Xterra without the covered rear cargo area) and he liked it alot. We never got it stuck either- and we tried too.

And the Xterra is built on a truck frame with truck suspension and trucks are usually known for rough rides. Pilots and Highlanders are built more like cars.

That's the thing though, I have a Tacoma and the ride of my tacoma doesn't bother me much.

But what are your expectations of the ride? Do you expect it to ride like a luxury car, or do you understand that it's going to be a little stiffer as a result of its utilitarian capabilities? I think alot of people complain of ride that trucks have because they only drive cars. Just a guess.....

Exactly, i liked it because its built on a truck frame and rides and feels like a truck. Not a soccer mom mobile, and i feel safe knowing i won't get stuck in mud and snow.

I see lots of folks come winter time pulled off to the side of the road, and i just roll down my window and ask if there anyone i can call for help? LOL Bottom line is my wife and i like it ;-)

I have a truck, and my brother had a wrangler that I'd drive him around in all the time. (Younger brother = designated driver)

I knew going in that it would have a rough ride, but I didn't think I'd feel like I got kicked in the spine every time I got out of it. My brother's 93 wrangler had a more pleasant ride.
