2003.5 MSP
I just recently connected a boost guage. Its been in for 2 weeks and at full boost i have a consistant 4.5 to 5 psi. I am just curious if it will hurt my motor if i turn it up to 7 or 8 psi.

if you must, upgrade the wastegate don't use a Boostcontroller... do a search for the wastegate info and the zoom zoom boom info.

when you mod, adding exhaust, fmic, and intake does up your boost to 7-8 psi, did for me. Until I got a new wastegate, oem.

yea get a front mount a cai and go 12 youll be cool any more than that build your motor and get a bigger turbo. really the only problem youll have uping boost on stock components is breaking the bad ass plastic intercooler piping and the stock bypass valve ive gone through 2 sets. but dont worry my front mounts on its way. perrin baby i got one of the last ones.

actually the problem you will have will be much worse than breaking plastic pipes if you run 12 pounds of boost with only a fmic and cai. say good bye to your engine ;)

stock here.. running 6.5-7 on cold days and 5.5*6 on hot days

i tried a mbc and it was spiking too much. since im still waiting for mounts, i can't take off my cats just yet.. just that will unlock some flow for sure.

Hey guys. Just bought my MSP last Saturday and I'm loving it.... BUT... the guy put a MBC on it and I'm spiking at 11-12 psi! It's got a stock airbox and IC. I've been reading up on the boost threads and I'm new to boosted cars and will need your assistance to learn my way around. I'll take some pics at lunch of the boost controller and maybe we can figure out how to turn it down and clean up the install.

Stock 80K miles now.

Running 10 psi for about 75K miles even on the road course!!

FTW (rockon)

definitly takje that boost controller out until you can figure out hot to run a lower amount of boost, up it once you have some bolt ons on th ecar that will support such boost 8+

I'm a bit scared right now. I got a 2000 mile bumper to bumper warranty ($50 deductible) with the deal and I have the rear sway bar clunk to fix as well. I can't tell if the previous owner beat on the car or not. The body is in great shape, but the boost mod seems a bit stupid since he traded the car in without any other mods. Maybe he kept the IC, CAI, etc. for resale, but who knows. Maybe he's had motor work or tranny work. The unknown drives me nuts! As a mechanical engineer I have to know these things. I beat the dealer down on the price because of the boost mod, but since I've read all these threads about grenading motors and trannies - I'm a bit FREAKED! I'm going to do a compression check and all-around fluid change. I'll put in a Millenia PCV valve and lube the suspension. All those miscellenious things you should look at on these cars. Sorry for the rant/vent, but I'm glad I found this forum! These types of communities have helped me out a lot in the past with my 71' MGB! Thanks! (rockon)

Took some pics at lunch of what I now know is a blow-off valve, not a boost controller, upping my boost. What do you guys think of the install and product?

If I am seeing things correctly, it looks like he put in a blow off valve and then blocked off the recirculating hose that goes to the cold pipe. From what I know a BOV can not change the boost setting. If you don't have engine management your car should be running like crap venting to the atmosphere.

If there is no other hardware running off the vacuum lines you may want to take a peek behind your glove box or under your passenger side carpet. Maybe there is some engine management with the boost controller right by the unit. Also check the waste gate to see if there is a spring between the waste gate arm and the cover. This is known as the spring mod, and would be hard to spot if you didn't know what you were looking for.

Also, did you get an OEM Millenia PCV valve, or one from a parts store like AutoZone or AdvanceAutoParts?

You should get rid of that stock rubber elbow, just use a longer vac line. It could easily pinch and then you'll be running very rough and stalling. I know for experience...
