Are we allowed to use last years pics or should they be more recent, I'm having a difficult time choosing a submission? I have some recent ones but do not want to upload something thats not acceptable.

You guys know the deal :) Every month, there will be a new "Theme" to capture. The picture can be of anything pertaining to that theme. Take a look at a previous Contest HERE.

Please pay attention as some things have changed:

Rules:
1) The photo can be photoshopped and can be altared in any way, shape or form.
2) Please submit only 1 picture.
3) Once you submit you pic, please don't go back and change it. Once you submit, make sure its exactly the way you want it.
4) Please no cheating. Please do not post pics that you found online and claim them as yours!
4) Be Creative!
5) YOUR PHOTO SUBMISSION MUST BE NEW PHOTO, TAKEN BETWEEN JUNE15th AND THE DEADLINE DATE SPECIFIED IN THIS POST

Almost like the "Ride of the Month" format, I will setup a new thread with everyone's submission. Everyone will then be able to vote on their favorite image. Prizes will be awarded! Small donations are welcomed ( yashart@hotmail.com ) to help fund the prizes, but are not required at all. This contest is free for all to enter! PM me with any, ideas, comments, or concerns.

DONATIONS RECIEVED TO DATE: $10 - Thanks to all who Donated!

Submissions for this contest will end on Wed, June 27th @ Midnight. A new voting thread will be created shortly after, and run for 1 week.

June Theme: Animals (Pets and/or Wildlife)
I think the title pretty much explains itself here. Lets see those pics of your pets. No pets? Then how about some wildlife in your area! Live in the City like me? Then how about a trip to the zoo :) (please no pirctures of plants as "wildlife"). Remember, creativity is key!

Best of luck everyone! :)

Thank you redneck..Actually I've changed my mind on entering.

Don't mean to call you out but...your post is in exact opposition to everything this contest is trying to do. Its says right in the opening post (quoted above) that the contest is for pets or wildlife; or wild pets; or whatever as long as you are creative. I'm pretty sure there are living creatures besides humans (can humans be wildlife?) where you are located these four months. Maybe you should try taking some pictures to see if anything comes out. If not, then post the "whoa is me...darn the luck" response.

As for the other comments about not wanting to take a new picture, all I can say is this isn't meant to be a game of Go-Fish where we ask who has the best ______ picture in their catalog. The contest is meant to get people who like to take pictures out taking pictures. Seems like a reasonable and logical goal, don't you think?

If I have misconstrued the intentions and/or rules of yashart's contest, please correct me. My hope with this post is that if people understand the reasoning behind a rule they will be more likely to willingly abide by it. No on to the submissions...its time to make pictures; not excuses.

That's exactly how I understood the intentions of the rules :)

I'm pretty sure that I understand the intention of the rule. I guess I was just saying that I could have gotten some really good pics of my pets to enter in the contest if I was back home. It's one category I could have had a good chance at winning. For me it is easier to photograph animals that I know and have worked with before. I can take pics of wild animals all day, and I'm sure I will for the contest, but it won't be the same for me.
I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I really was just saying darnit...not OH MY GOD I HATE MY LIFE!!!! Geesh.

I'm better now that I've spent all evening preening...but seriously, I want to make sure that everyone realizes that this rule is empowering rather then restricting. It forces the practice of photography and catalyzes creativity. Most importantly for you, I think you have a wonderful opportunity to broaden the the type of subjects you feel comfortable with through this contest. Compel yourself to be inspired and good things will follow. So yeah, rule #5 (after 4a and 4b) is the best rule up there...

Bravo!

Exactly! Now to borrow a friends dog before I have to send my camera in for repair...

Man.... all this talk and one submission...

Thank you for rule #5, its the whole point of the contest!

Now get up away from the computer and get out there and be creative with your camera! When I find my way back to this thread in a few days with a submission I hope to see were only on page 4 or 5 and that there all very nice and creative submissions. If you cant understand the rules or have a problem just ignore this thread and move on to something else. Theres no reason for all this fuss everyone has created in the past few voting and submissions threads. Now good luck to everyone and cut the crap! ok? :)

I will be submitting a picture but just wanted to follow up....
This is what I should have said instead of expecting people to understand my smoke signals:

Oh man, I totally understand Rule #5 but it is inconvenient for me right now since I'm away from my pets. I have some really great pics on my laptop that I took before I left home. I love my pets and this would have been a perfect opportunity for me to show people how adorable they are. I once won an online photo contest and Bailey's face got printed on a coffee mug for the prize. Oh well, rules are in place for a reason so I guess I'll just have to break out of the box and photograph some wildlife.
All is good in the neighborhood.
