Paint Grill

I want to paint my stock grill's upper lip - It is midnight blue and I was wondering if any other midnight blue people have pics and what paint did you use. The dealer sells expensive paint that comes in a bad touch up bottle with a crappy appliator. Any prepping tips?

You can either risk breaking the upper strip by taking it off or just taping it off like I did. Use a pretty fine grit sand paper, nothing less than 400, and sand it down untill its no longer glossy. Apply a primer, sand, hit with paint, slightly touch up sand if needed, and hit again with paint and a few coats of clear and youll be good. All you need now is the dupli color code for the paint closest to midnight blue

you can buy it in a spray paint can online...just make sure you know your paint code (can be found on the driver side door jamb tag)

I'm VERY careful when I take stuff apart and still cracked mine in the middle! I welded a strip of plastic on the back side and put it all back together. You can't tell, but just letting you know mine broke. I couldn't believe the amount of force required to remove such in insignificant piece of plastic. It has 5 clips...yes, FIVE. In any case, here's a pic of my car where you can see my strip. I didn't take this pic to focus on that strip. In actuality, because our cars are midnight blue, you can barely tell the difference between painted and not painted since it's such a thin strip. I didn't get much satisfaction from doing mine, but still a nice touch I guess. Also, Get touch-up paint in an aerosol can and don't use a brush or it'll look like crap.... Good luck!

Our code is 22A for midnight blue. Not sure if they'll ship you an aerosol can. You can buy it from some auto parts stores. Like Napa or Probec in Canada (not sure the equivalent in the US, or even if you're in the US...)
