i have an autometer oil tempature gauge i am looking to hook up myself...does anyone that hooked up there oil temperature gauge know what size "T" fitting i need to get to tap into the factory temp. sensor? and where i can locate the factory sensor?

search for that man.. theres a couple threads with just the info you need ... if i knew i'd tell u

national pipe thread

the oil pressure sender port on the back is british standard pipe thread. it is right near the oil filter... to the drivers side of it. don't break your tee in there like i did.

you could get an oil filter sandwich plate instead. it has a couple ports for pressure, temperature senders, etc. just goes in between the filter and the block.

You should search up for a thread that I wrote up about putting in an electric oil pressure gauge. You can get some fittings that will work out for you.

1. BSPT male to NPT male adapter (goes into the block)
2. NPT female tee (goes onto the adapter in #1)
3. Autometer temp gauge plugs into one of the open tee ports
4. NPT male to BSPT female adapter (plugs into other free port on #2 tee)
5. Stock temp sender goes into #4 adapter

Thanks for the information! I've been looking everywhere to find out how to install oil pressure and temperature senders while maintaining the stock oil pressure switch. BTW, I came across this handy adapter from egauges.com:

Do you think this adapter would do the same job? The other option I've been considering is an oil filter sandwich adapter, although I haven't found one for the FS 2.0L Protege yet. Thanks.

which sensor is the stock oil pressure? im seeing 2 near the oil filter. if looking at it from under the car, one is to the left and another to the top left.

That fitting will work, but it does essentially the same thing the other adapters would do while being more expensive. A sandwich adapter is the most expensive way to do it.

im just gonna run the sandwhich plate once i am do for my next oil change

After reading like every thread out there about installing oil senders (and some horror stories about snapping the adapter in the block), I'm probably going with a sandwich plate as well. I found this one on the web, and it seems pretty decent (cost, quality, etc.):

http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=200

I just have to make sure there's enough clearance for the sending units and oil filter after the plate is installed. Also, I'm not sure if this sandwich plate is a simple bolt-on, or if I'll need to change the threaded rod for the oil filter.

It still works great after almost 6 years. The only problem is a slow leak around the O-ring. I'm going to order a new o-ring for $2.99+shipping from Glowshift.

Last year when I tried to install an engine oil cooler, I bought the Glowshift adapter with two -AN ports. Unfortunately I couldn't get everything to fit properly because of the tight space. I ended up staying with the original sandwich plate (with four 1/8 NPT ports) and relocating my oil filter.

Thank you so much for the reply! Did you use the exact sandwich plate that you linked on the first page? (20mm 1.5thread)

Yes, although I ordered from Glowshift's eBay store because the total price with shipping to Canada worked out to be cheaper.
