sports package owner---> red illumination?

Hi!

I will be acquiring a M6i this week. However, I noticed that with the Sports Package, there's this thing called "electroluminescent gauges with red illumination." When I test-drove the car last week, I didn't notice it with the ones w/o the Sports Package.

Can anyone clarify the difference? Is it just a red illumination instead of orange?

I will be making trip to dealer anyway, but I'm just really curious about it.

if i'm not mistaken, it's orange.

But i only drove it at day time, and i was paying attention to other stuff in the car

It is red. On the standard 6 it is black face guages w/ white lettering (that light up red at night). On the Sport Package the guage cluster looks completely black until you turn the car on, and then all of the lettering lights up completely red (kind of like a Lexus).

That's exactly why I don't have the Sport Package. Plus I would lose the sweeeet APR...

I've got the sports package, and no wasnt able to get the sweet APR which wasnt offered until a month after i took delivery....anyway, the dash is kinda cool....for a while...then it gets annoying when you figure out that every day you have to push a button on the dash to brighten it so you can see, then again at night to dim...the dealers werewnt even aware of this feature yet, until I told them I couldnt dim my lights and started looking for a button...oh what APR did I end up with?...6.8....so you guys without the SP, count your blessings and extra money you dont have to shell out

It does look very cool indeed. But I guess i will go with the low APR deal instead of Sports package...although I really want a black trim.

17" Wheels, Different Guage Cluster, Titanium-ish Trim around the Controls in the Center Console, Factory Body Kit (that includes Front & Rear Bumper, Sides, Wing, and Sport Grille). It is strictly and Appearance Package, not really a "Sport Package" except for the better tires...

well, cant you opt for those extras in another package, rather than getting them WITH the red guages?

i.e. body kit, trim, etc. ?

You can get the body kit. But you can't get the wheels, interior trim, or the guage cluster. But you could always wait for some genious in your area to total theirs and then go looting in the junkyard.

JOsh is correct, however I was under the impression you could opt for the 17in wheels .....the titanium "look" trim, is sorta cool, but I'd go for the real aluminum trim kit you can get from http://www.woodtrim.com/ or http://www.wooddashman.com/

since you asked, I'll kill two birds with one stone....the titanium look dash, and the electroluminiscent guages....keep in mind this is a digital camera, I took these pics in my garage during daylight hours (in the last hour actually), and there's a window in my garage....the difference between the high and low settings is much greater than these pics depict...

I can't really tell what the "titanium look" dash, do you mean the silver-ish console, or the circular thing around the odometer?

Again, thanks for all the help. I could check it out myself in the dealer, but I wont' be going to dealer until after I finsih my exam, and plus when I go, it will be the time I purchase the car
