freakin dealership prices

does anybody want a roof rack? my 03 p5 came with the factory roof rack, but i dont want it anymore. i want my roof to be free of everything except the shorty antenna.

i went to the dealership to order the roof moulds that replace the roof rack base, but i cant afford them. at $84/each, anyway... and the valve cover gasket i need is gonna be $40.

i bought 2 brand new p5s from this dealership in 3 weeks, and they cant cut me a deal on a couple of parts (pissed)

are the caps you guys are speaking of come included in just the rail covers? If so I have the covers in a bag that were never installed on my P5.

well, its not the covers or the caps im looking for. its the mouldings that go where the coverings are when you take the entire roof rack assembly off. they are like a long thin (bout 1" wide) black piece of plastic that are about as long as the entire roof. when you take off the "base" of the roof rack, you have exposed holes in the groove between the doors and the roof, and these moulds go in that groove. basically, its what is there on the 03.5 p5s that opted not to get the roof rack at all.

i gotcha. but you see on the roof of your car how it is smooth with nothing extra on the roof? i have a long base on either side of the roof that the roof rack attaches to. i dont want those bases, i want it to be smooth. but in order to get it smooth, i have to order the moulds that replace the base. ill try to post some pics up soon, thatll be easier to explain.

yeah, i have those on mine right now. i want to get rid of them. but if i just take them off, there is bare metal and screw holes into the body of the car. im looking for the molds that fill in the grooves when you remove the base (the peice shown in the picture).

nah, but i think i need more than those caps. i think i need the whole black strip that holds the caps too. i may take a closer look tomorrow. we're dealing with freezing weather right now and i dont feel like goin in the garage when its this cold out.

that whole black strip is the piece that costs $84/each at the dealership. prob costs $1 to make.

If you facing the car it should be the bar that goes from left to right or vice versa. I need the entire assembly that came with your car to mount a bike rack on the roof.

good luck doin that whole project, from what ive read it takes a whole lotta work, you gotta pull off a bunch of the interior and crap

Yeah, me too. I want to find out which one would cost less. The oem roof rack + the bike mounts or the aftermarket ones. I really need to get it cuz my car is getting muddy inside with all this wet mountaind bike trail that I go to.
