Question about trim around windows

P5
I was browsing through protege323.com's DIY section and I saw that one of the DIY's talking about removing the black trim around the door frames and underneath everything was painted. Does this apply to P5's as well?

Anyone know what I'm talking about? The reason I ask is because the P5 pictured in the DIY looks like it was painted.

yeah i remember reading somewhere around here about that, and you can take the black trim off around the doors.. i am pretty sure that under the trim the color is the color of your car.

Yup, it has been done before. It is the color of the car. It is wierd how the Black MSPs are the only ones that came with painted door silles...

Any link to the site or the DIY?

I've attached it.

The only thing I don't like about it is that you're left with the black base of the rear view mirror. It looks kinda funky, since everything else is colored.

I thought about doing this one time to my P5. However, I am pretty sure my car is not painted under the trim because when I bought it I noticed some scratches around the back of the driver's door (either the previous owner got locked out of his car or someone once tried to break into it) but it was scratched down to bare metal with no hint of red anywhere. I would love to get rid of the cheap-looking black stuff but I don't think mine is painted underneath.

I dont like this mod for those with tint
Yeah, the more I thought about it the more I didn't like it either because I think it would look awkward. I guess I'll just keep my pimpy black trim and tint my winduh's like I was supposed to do for my birthday 6 months ago haha.

The pro looks good, but I dunno about the P5, the hatch window looks out of place without the trim on the other windows IMO.

I have a black car... I can't complain :D

A Euro P5... Looks good.

Anyone try this yet? I tried a little spot, but I think it is bare metal...

looks cheap without the black
if you have tinted windows, you no longer have a nice flowing black silhouette at the top half of the car... the black base of the mirror is part of that too!

the black also makes a nice contrast with the rest of the car... brings out the smooth lines... without that s***, you see all the ugly body panel gaps and weather stripping... LOOKS CHEAP!!!
