Dealer bitched about Turbo Timer

Cirielle said:

Becuase they are complete and total retards that don't know how anything works electricly so since its not in the service manual they have no clue how to deal with it.

If it was for a starting related problem thats one thing but to refuse general service is bulls***.

if the remote start was installed inpropery, it could start and roll while someone is working on it. Now this is VERY unlikely.

Nope!
NO SHOP, will incure the liability to put a remote start on a standard and automatics have a real hard time moving in park.

The only thing a dealer could claim is that the car maystart while they are working on it, by the belts or something and they could be hurt. Theres a few problems with this though:

1. EVERY remote start has a mercury tilt switch or a pin switch to disable the start function if the hood is up.
2. The car cannot just start unless someone presses the start or combination of start buttons so it would be the dealers own damn fualt for starting the car.
3. Anytime you are doing something potentialy dangerous in a car, even the manual tells you to disconnect the battery. Thus if they fallowed all the steps the battery would be unpluged and the car unable to start!

first i woulda asked the prick if he was joking....then if he persisted, i woulda asked if he knew what the **** he was talking about...and if he continued with his idiotic bulls***, i woulda said **** off and drive out of the dealership

I told my dealer about it when I went to get the routine maintenace done, and there is one guy in charge of the mazdaspeeds and he said "ok thats good"

LOL, seems today has turned into "bash the dealerships day" -- and I must say, IT'S ABOUT F-ING TIME!!!! I've never, not once, dealt with a dealership that was worth squat. And that is a disgrace. The first car manufacturer that starts selling direct and doing service direct *via "satelite service shops" or whatever) will get my business. These dealerships of today all need their asses kicked.

Not quite sure about this, I was an MECP certified master installer for a few years and during that time (80's&90's) I saw no remote starts that came with merc switches. We would have to install these supplementary. We also made magnetic ring switches that encircled the shifter and bypassed the remote start if it were in gear. We also did one with a hydraulic resevoir and pump that applied the clutch during the start sequence. I think what the issue is for dealers and shops, is that back in the day when remote starts were new, certain ones (DEI) had issues with starting when the battery was reattatched. This is not an issue with any current systems that I know of. There are plenty of shops that do not install any type of bypass or safety switch for the hood with remote starts. It is unfortunate, but it does happen. And also, the owner of the car incurs the liability of the damages in most states, not the shop that installs it. I am finding out all sorts of neat things since my wife went to law school. It's kind of like trying to sue a gun manufacturer because someone shot you. Very difficult if not impossible.

Which dealership in San Diego do you go to?

I'm not in San Diego right now...the dealer I went to is up on the Central Coast..

first i woulda asked the prick if he was joking....then if he persisted, i woulda asked if he knew what the **** he was talking about...and if he continued with his idiotic bulls***, i woulda said **** off and drive out of the dealership

I wanted to....but I tried to keep my cool because they are the only dealership I can go to at the moment..so I'm trying to stay on their good side. I just don't know why he told me this crap all of the sudden...I wish I could have someone go with me that is more technically knowledgeable and tell them to cut their crap. But its pretty intimidating when you're alone and have to go up against service managers and techs that don't know much about the Mazdaspeeds...its just frustrating...

While I was there I also asked them about the clunk which is starting to come back and the tech said he heard from Mazda that they were getting better results with some other type of bushing, like energy somethin or other..I asked them if they could order those, and he said they couldn't...So I was confused..he's telling me there is a better bushing but they can't get it? What, am I suppost to go someplace and pay outta my own pocket to get them put on?....I don't get it..

In addition, I asked him about the rust starting to develop on the rotor hubs..its not too bad but its there and he said that's just because "the Mazdaspeed uses different types of brakes"....WTF? After that response and the other frustration, I didn't even want to bother asking him if heard about the TSB for rotor rust on the 2002's....geez

Maybe I'm too nice when I go there and just am too accepting...maybe I need to turn into an Uber-ass hole ...but its hard, when they have so many crappy exuses and explanations......

Ok, sorry....I'll shut up now...just been a long, bad day at the dealership...its depressing.... :(

Every DEI, astrostart, and avital remote start comes with pin switches and we have to install one or we are in some serious s***.

Like you said its not impossible to sue thus BB, CC, and us will all use pin switches even if the remote starter doesn't have one.
Also remote starters on standards are totaly against company policy and we will NEVER do one on the books. You do, your fired! Even on cars with neutral safety switches.

my dealer opend my hood and laughed at me.... then closed it then one minute later about half the service staff came out and laughed stuff like " wow your warranty is ****** lol " and some stuff like that. then i went on to say "well i had to do this cause you all couldnt fix the hesitation so fak off!"
