k, i have two (2) dos, holes for my O2 sensors... the msp has two right cuz i never ever bothered looking under my car really looking for sensors... but i know i have one on the manifold, and i know there is one on the exhaust pipe, i wanna know if there is two cuz i don't know if i have to weld that s*** shut or wat?...

thx

There are 2 O2 sensors on the exhaust after the s pipe 1 on the J Pipe and another after the stock cats.
Good Luck

Yea to answer your question. There is one on the exhaust manifold and after the Cat i believe. Only two on the Speed. a third one would be good for a Wide band o2 if you are going to be doing tuning.

There is a plug in the unused bung in the factory j-pipe. You'll see it once you pull the j-pipe. Take that plug out and put it in the first open bung in the Vibrant Exhaust. You can use that spot for a wideband down the road.

iight i jus wanted to make sure... cuz i didn't know if i needed to buy a wideband component jus to fill in the gap... but now i dont, thx alot... i dont wanna buy things i don't need at the moment...

i'm scared that i might break my O2's cuz i've broken them before on different cars cuz they were sooo tight... o well, i'm glad there pretty cheap if i need another one...

o wait, there's a plug?... o ok... the wideband is on my list soon... thx alot!

so i gotta plug the first one right? i can't cap the second one?

No you dont plug or cap anything just screw the o2 sensors in and you are done...
1st O2 sensor on the manifold you not gonna touch.
2nd O2 sensor on the J pipe you screw in...
3rd O2 sensor after the cats you screw in..
There are 2 O2 sensor holes on you exhaust and there are 2 O2 sensors that you need to screw in...Good Luck

Do what? You're confusing the heck out of me. There are two sensors on the stock exhaust, and three bungs. There is no sensor on the j-pipe, just a bung.

bung? as in a cap? like an empty slot for a wideband?

The bung is the threaded hole in the pipe. Like an empty slot for a wideband, yes. There is a plug or "cap" screwed into the bung in the stock j-pipe. There is no 02 sensor there.

Just to clear things up:

1. First O2 sensor is in the manifold, you can see it when you look in your engine bay.
2. Vibrant exhaust has an open hole in the J-section. Stock J-pipe has a bolt in the exact same location. The reason is Mazda used the same J-pipe on the MSP as the regular Protege. The regular protege has the second O2 sensor in that location. So on the MSP they just plugged it. Take the bolt out of the stock J-pipe, put it in the Vibrant hole in the J-section
3. Put the second O2 sensor in the second hole of the Vibrant exhaust.

Also, you will need to grind down the collars on the stock nuts in order to install the Vibrant exhaust. It's a pain, and I'm kind of pissed that Vibrant didn't include new nuts nor did they design the J section around this problem. Right now I have en exhaust leak because the J section isn't bolted tightly to the S section. What do I care though, it's after the turbo, so leaks don't matter.

Here this will help you ! You are not going to be confused any more ...

Hey man, you're wrong.

Your number 2 will be filled with a plug or a wb02. The MSP only has 2 o2 sensors.

So what is he going to do with the sensor that goes to the j pipe ?

The mazdaspeed does not have a sensor in the J. It's just a metal plug in the stock J. He'll just unscrew that one and put it in the hole on the Vibrant on the J portion.

Thanks, I thought I wasn't crazy, lol.

I know...I had to sit and think about it for a minute...but then I remembered taking the bolt out of the stock J was a major pain in the butt.
