Yeah I'm sorry I haven't really been on top of things with that I just got done with finals and drove all the way back home to CT today so I'm dead tired. I'll update the threads and such in the morning. Looks like VA it is. I would have liked to see something a bit farther west (like not on the coast) but like many have said it's a long drive for just a car meet, but in Williamsburg VA there's plenty of other stuff to do to make a weekend out of it. I guess that makes it worth the longer drive for people coming from farther west.

i'm up for VA, that's my home state! that would be great...so VA it is?(thumb) just make sure you shut your radar detector off!

VA got almost twice the votes of it's nearest competitor so yup, VA it is.

So anyone who knows of a place in VA nominate it and then I'll probably set up a poll for that.

charlottesville..........just kidding ok but we were voted 'best city to live in' by CNN. i think northern VA around DC would be good or the williamsburg area if you wanna hit up busch gardens and/or water country usa.

just throwing out some citys and what all there is to do in thoose ar
"nova" georgtown dc area good night scene and what not (could catch a O's or Nats game) and meet there early b4 the games starts
richomond- kings dominion
williamsburg-bush gardens
roanoke-dont konw what all to do there but somewhere further west if people wanted that
lynchburg-dont know why you would want to visit here
va beach- beach
danville- doubt we could get anything at VIR, but maybe for next year
skyline drive- im pretty sure i can get a nice size lot to meet in verona or at jmu or something, nothing to do other than drive through the mountains
charlottesville- hmm someone help me on what to do in charlottesville

hahaha charlottesville.... you got wintergreen resort.... i got a seasons pass.... oh yea... it wont be snowboarding season then :(

i still say deals gap (nc, tn)... best place to have a meet this big... but im game for whatever.

willimsburg would be the best out of all of those cause at least we have busch gardens.

Who is signed up who would be completely against middle TN instead of coastal VA? Like suppose the meet would have a much larger turnout and possibly sponsors or something.

Edit: and how do people feel about late August or early September so that it isn't quite as hot down there :)

The only complication I see would be people in college (like myself), but if you leave friday morning or afternoon to drive down, then have the meet saturday, and then leave sunday it's not too bad.

Seems like Tenn. should be the spot if your shooting for a middle ground...sounds good to me

The dots are at random but are in the correct state at the correct amount as of today via the poll.

I'm glad to see you made the choice to make it TN. I believe that is the most fair for EVERYONE. late august or early september is also another great idea. i just hope you dont decied to make it the last weekend in september because i already have another car event that i am required to attend. (for those that must know its H2o, a VW show)

as for location in TN... im still HIGHLY suggesting deals gap.
Tail of the dragon
318 curves in 11miles..... i mean what car enthusisiast wouldnt want to go....check out the link for all the info such as hotels and whatnot.

on another note, I would love to help out with the photography. i just bought a digital slr and i have a 35mm slr camera with 2 extra lens. I have been working in photogrpahy for the past 6 years. while i am not the best or even close i would love to just be able to help out and give everyone great photos.

that would be so awesome to see a trail of 60+ mazdas driving through like a huge train..... we need somone with a video camera with balls enough to ride standing out the top of one of our cars or maybe a miata and film this omg /drool

Yes but you are forgetting that most of the people who voted for Virginia doen't necessarily live there. My vote is for Virgina because it's the only state on the list I would actually consider driving to. Tennesse is too far to travel for those of us in New England and New York.

Virginia is pretty centrally located on the east coast.... we seem to be in the middle.. :)

Changing it from Virginia to Tennessee will add roughly 7-8 hrs onto the NEPOC'ers trip. For me that would be 18 hrs instead of 11.

it really depends on how much of an "eastern meet" that you want....

the first map is with a center reference based on Boston, Chicago and Jacksonville, FL

the second map is more of an eastern half of the states and its respective center.

Btw, where is Bristol?

The way the roads go must suck or something. It adds roughly 2 hours for me to go from Rochester to Nashville versus Williamsburg.

Looking at the Worcester, MA to Nashville, TN directions it's such an indirect path.

If Kentucky was at all an option maybe that would be better for people? Agh why the hell does it take 11 hours to get from Richmond, VA to Lexington, KY?! A lot of those roads must not be highways.

I understand it makes it a longer drive for NEPOC, trust me. If it makes the difference between having like 30 cars and having 200+, it's worth it to me. Depending on the date I'm either leaving from NH, CT, or Rochester so I'm probably going to be in the same boat as the rest of NEPOC. It's definitely a drive I'd want to have a passenger for so that I can have conversation to stay alert.

We're trying to make this as good as possible for as many people as possible behind the scenes. Putting it in Williamsburg, although it seems like a great idea since there are attractions in the area, it makes it a very long trip for anyone who isn't on the coast.

Chicago, IL to Knoxville, TN - 11 hours 26 minutes
Orlando, FL to Knoxville, TN - 14 hours 13 minutes
Dallas, TX to Knoxville, TN - 15 hours 45 minutes
Rochester, NY to Knoxville, TN - 15 hours 6 minutes
Springfield, MA to Knoxville, TN - 14 hours 43 minutes
Chicago, IL to Knoxville, TN - 11 hours 26 minutes
New Orleans, LA to Knoxville, TN - 11 hours 29 minutes
Houston, TX to Knoxville, TN - 18 hours 30 minutes
San Fran, CA to Knoxville, TN - 1 day 19 hours.. sorry guys :(
Toronto, ON to Knoxville, TN - 15 hours 43 minutes -- Let's make this international!
St. Louis, MO to Knoxville, TN - 9 hours 20 minutes
Richmond, VA to Knoxville, TN - 9 hours 20 minutes
Charleston, SC to Knoxville, TN - 7 hours 56 minutes
Cleveland, OH to Knoxville, TN - 9 hours 43 minutes

Does anyone think that this is a bad location?
