new Alpine CDA-9856

Just wanted to show off my new deck. It's an Alpine CDA-9856. Got it from Crutchfield. Didn't use the dash kit they gave me because I think it looks ugly. The sound overall has improved, it sounds louder and there is more bass. Took me almost 3 hours to put it in. Should have been way less but I thought I only had one set of the removal tools because the other set was hidden in the box of packaging peanuts so I had to take apart the glove box and steering column. I soldered all the wires instead of crimping them. But anyways, here's is a pic. (It doesn't come with the remote, took it from my girlfriend's CDA-9851 hehe)

oh yea, how do I secure the radio to the dash? I have the radio support bar but I drop one of the tabs in the dash somewhere so I have to order it again. How do I secure from the back or something? Thanks in advance.

I know the free remote was cheaper but any alpine remote will work fine. Crutchfield offers them for $20. Alpine RUE-4202 I dont know what to tell you about the mounting because I always used the dash kit.

hmm, yea, that option looks MUCH better?

Just do the kit thing it makes life easier. asfar as what to secure it to. MSP/MP3's have a crossbrace between the 2 slots and a fancy expensive pocket.

Now I just need to look for a cover for the bottom. Next piece, an amp and sub.

you should try to find a pocket for that space...they come up every now & then...

is it possible to have a cd player and a in dash dvd player to wear they both play through all the speakers?? Cause im thinking about getting a dvd player but i love my kenwood exelon cd player and would hate to get rid of it.

how about some night time shots? I need a new cd player and im tired of waiting for the cda-9857 to come out....

does anyone know where i can get an Alpine CDA-9835? I'm dying for one of those. I bought the 9855 at some point. First one, the glide bar kept scrolling by itself. Thought okay, maybe a defective one. Exchanged it for another, same s*** after 2 days. So stay away from alpines with glide bars.

Did you use anything to support the rear of the HU? I have the bar and the pocket and the HU mounting sleeve but the back of the head unit hangs downs a little because it doesn't have the little piece in the back that the stock radio had to support the rear. I had glued a piece of pipe to the back and it held for a while, until I pulled the HU out to put the IP-Bus adapter on. Anybody have any suggestions?
