Guys,

I am still debating abount installing some gauges for the speed.

I was looking at the Stewart Warner gauges and i would like to know if should I get a boost gauge only or a vacuum/boost gauge combination.
Why do we need to measure the vacuum? What value should I expect?

Additionally, does anyone ever installed the 42draftdesign triple gauge holder for the VW. I think deadalus had it and I would like to know how would you go about installing it in the speed.

Thanks

I have the same din on my car! It should come with stuff to mount it under the radio! As for the gauges its better to get the vacuum/boost combination that way if you have a leak in one of your vacuum lines you will be able to tell because your vacuum reading will be off!

What is a good value for the vacuum?

I do not want to be a pain but would you mind posting a picture of your set up?

Thanks a lot for the help

vichubbard.com has the SW -30 to 15psi for around $50 ... i bought mine from there.

i have the 42nd draft design guage holder for the vw. i superglued some plastic on the back of it to make it fit inbetween. the support and the cover . it just snaps in place. i also used wetherstriping foam to secure it so it doesnt rattle. i see if i have some pics. i ahve stewart warner guages too. i have the vac boost guage for 15 psi. moves alont

Mine actually came with double sided tape so I didnt have to glue anything (shrug)

Hehe I bought that holder from him actually. It works really well, it stays in place a lot better than i thought. The weight of the gauges, and the double sided tape work perfectly!

i wanted something interchangable. still waiting for ledfoot bezel. so i just snap on and off the cover to pull out my guages

I bought my VDO gauges from them. Great service and fast shipping (was 2 years ago though). Also their red led lights are a perfect match for our gauge cluster.

They come both ways! I got mine in black also

it looks kinda bad from the back, but that isnt what ya see in the car. and it only takes two seconds to take on and off and no doiuble tape residue. maybe once i get all my guagesw in where i want them finally i will secure it better, but for now. it holds tight and doesnt move

Guys I have a general question.

How is the quality of VDO gauges?
I like the fact that they sit flash on the plate.

Thanks again
