Bringing laserblue inside...?

Please help meout, I'm seeking input on this, is the blue too lame?

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm not too sure if I'm going to like this or not. If it's going to be staring at me screaming "RICER" every day I'd rather just paint it black right now, Hopefullly, the blue's subtle enough that it won't annoy me. Like on the car it looks lighter with a flash, but you get teh idea. I'm also assuming that withthe screenon it won't realyl be noticeable... eitherway I'm pleased with how everything's FINALLY turning out. But I'd really appreciate some input on if I should stay blue or not.

Keep in mind that the sides are still fauxcarbon under the tape. adn the silver is still fresh and need more sanding and a clearcoat.

That looks very nice.

You have your own ideas of what you want, but here is what I have done. Incase you were wondering what it would look like.

As for the fake carbon fiber I took some blue annodized metalcast spraypaint and shot a light coat over the C/F and it looks like blue carbon fiber.

I also painted the center around the shifter laser blue as well

AND before anybody flames me again the floor mats. They are for winter to keep snow & mud off the mazda floor mats and keep them looking nice.

Its an old picture

Well, at least they match ;)

Becarefull what you post on this forum. I got flamed because of my seat covers and the floormats were being renamed from R-racing to Rice racing floor mats.

I do like the way Poseur's center stack turned out. Its subtle.

i'll be the lone dissenter and say that i do not like it, the blue metallic looks to me like something off an old carnie ride, coin operated spaceship at kmart, 1960s star trek space suit accessory, etc. not my thing :(

*HEH* yea mostly I was excited to have found a decently matching color. Atleast it's not gelcoat sparkle blue.. ;)

I dunno part laziness and partly that I actually got there to be a clean crisp line and such now I'm quite tempted to leave it for now which I KNOW secretly means 6months or more to get motivated to pull it apart again. I'm going to stick it on my dash tomorrow in the sunlight and see what it's like. I'm not intending on blue-washing my interior by any means, but If I can drop a couple little faint touches here and there I think it might turn out alright. consequently my new speakers are all met. blue (kicker ss) and YES they will be visible in the kicks. Most of my panels are all a bit scuffed up bynow as well so I figure if I'm gonna go through and paint them, I might jsut see if I can't put some blue accents to them as well.

of cours emsot of this agian hinges upon what it says to me tomorrow in the sunlight.

poseur, definitely check it out in the car. you painted it so well, it would be a shame to just get rid it. i know what you mean when you don't want it to look all rice, which is what i'm trying to do...but it's kinda hard incorporating bright yellow into the interior without it drawing a large amount of attention to it.

and redneck_r_us, that idea about painting a light coat over the fake carbon is a good idea. i don't think i've ever seen that before.

Well I wanted something different and that duplicolor metal cast was just the ticket. It comes in several colors too. I use the crap out of it now.

Calipers, lugnuts, radiator cap ect.

I've got a can of the purple anodized for my chopper that I'm building.

So keeping this on topic I reccomend the blue metalcast paint because its a close match to laser blue. And doesn't have the K-mart $0.25 rocketship paint look as was described above.

Metalcast, yep that's actually what I'm using... amazing match. I actualy found that if you undercoat the silver baselayer with black and go light on the silver spray it darkens it darkens it just a schoshe and more closely matches.

Hmm, so I'm not entirely disliking it. It's a small enough touch that it's not toobad. However, I'm still thiking about how it's "not that bad" *ugh* thiking I should've just done black to start with...

it's not below the ashtray, it's where the ashtray once was, and YES I did cut.. cutout the ashtray and lighter. Actually, you can see my sloppy cutmarks if you look close. one of these days after I finishup a couple other things like my kicks, I'll work on cleaning that one up. If you want to put it under the ashtray, there's a fair amount of cutting necc. as the dash braces bend inwards right below where my deck is right now.

The silver looks really nice, but I don't know about the blue. I've never been a big fan of any bright colors in the interior, I just like it to be clean and simple. I painted my whole radio surround, shift plate, ebrake surround section a gloss black. I did a horrible job painting it because I am apparantly just a huge failure when it comes to anything spraypaint, but despite my amateur paintjob, it looks pretty good. It's a subtle difference, but it gives the interior a different feel.

poseur bounce your ideas for cleaning that area up on me, i need to eventually do the same. what with our cars being so similar, lol...

might involve machined aluminum somethingorother. you KNOW I'll keep you in the loop on thatone man
