Question about pads

I have my car in for a few things... replacing steering wheel (faded, and corroded), shift knob (corroded), busted radio hu (stuck open), bad alarm module, and state inspection (just moved to MD). Anyway... during the inspection, the guy told me that my front brake pads will need to be replaced soon, something about 3/32nd's left. Is it a wise choice to replace only the front's, or should I go all around? Also, was going to take this time to replace the rotors as well... anyone have those cross/drilled rotors for sale?

Dave

Your rears should be checked as well. Obviously the bulk of the braking is handled by the front so they tend to wear out quicker. If you are looking for complete fronts or all 4 corners let me know I can give you some prices and shipping depending on where you are at. As for rotors they should be checked for warpage and thickness, They may still be usable.

Seems like you have some wear on your 03 car.

autocross brake pads (Hawk/Performance Friction)

i need to replace my front pads also, but I want a high performance brake pad, good for autocross. i read up on the forums and everyone seems to be recoommending the Hawk HP's, but I'm alos considering the pads by Performance Friction. any one with any advice?

PERFORMANCE FRICTION

OR

HAWK HP+

Check the rears but they're most likely fine and can just remain as is. I just did all 4 corners on my MSP after 35,000 miles and only 1 pad in the front was completely worn, the other 3 in the front had some wear but only the 1 really wore all the way down. All 4 pads on the rear looked basically brand new. I have done a few autocrosses too so I'd bet your rear pads are fine.

As far as rotors go, you can get KVR cross-drilled rotors from "Turfburn" on the forums here. That's where I got mine from and I couldn't be happier. I got cross-drilled WITHOUT slots.

Wow... dealership was pretty good... replaced all that I asked them to with no questions!

Do you have a pic of these rotors? How much are they?

I didn't bother to take pics before installing them...but here they are installed. You can get them rust-resistant coated in silver (like mine), gold, or black. I can't really remember the price so I'd just recommend you contact "Turfburn" for a quote (or check out his for sale thread in the vendor section).

I've had great luck with the Carbotech Bobcats autocrossing this year. One of the better pads for street / autocross that I've run across.

Quiet pad with light dust. Might have slightly less intial bite than some other pads, but they've held up to the heat I've thrown at them pretty damn well. So far they're easy on the rotor too.
