Hardpipes worth it?

Ask yourd self this? Do turbo kits come with plastic piping? No. Do real turbo cars have plastic piping? No. The MSP came with it because it was cheaper to manufacturer it that way. I am pretty sure the MSM comes with them.

lol that sounded dumb. the stock pipes have no problem handling stock boost so why would mazda change them, to make the car more expensive?

Didnt the prototype that Calloway got a hold of have hardpipes? Then Mazda backed them down to plastic. I just know that my buddies runs a lot smoother with them on and he didnt change anything else at the time, we have the same mods with the exception of the pipes and I have replaced my j-pipe. his exhaust is 2.5" from the spring bolts back to my 3" s-pipe back , but everything else is the same.

i installed my hardpipes and turbohoses smic at the same time, so i couldn't tell difference with just the pipes. but any good set of hardpipes are a definite improvement over the stock ones. getting them coated will even help prevent some heat soak into the pipes.

Yep, I have a picture of the prototype MSP with the black hard pipes.

alright will the hardpipes extend the life of my turbo at all? i do plan on getting a turbo timer on the 27th (for my birthday) to help with turbo life. also the guy who sold me my car has piping, a bov, and an intercooler that he has offered to sell to me. ill post pics as soon as i get them and you guys can tell me if its any good or if you want a go at it. thanks for all the help so far.

i don't think hardpipes will extend the life of a turbo...
extending life is more of a cooling issue.

Can you put it up for me or point me in its general location (gossip)

scroll down do the second pic, you can see the reflection of the black hardpipes. It also says in there that we were "limited" to 6.9psi.

I have heard rumors though that the original specs were 9psi and hardpipes. Don't know the validity of the rumors, but it was speculated that the reason ford axed these mods where because of competition with the svt focus for a 5k cheaper car.

Sorry, I don't know why I didn't upload the pictures in my previous post.. (shrug)

Ford had nothing to do with it. Mazda didn't want to pay for all the blown engines and transmissions that would come with a 9psi Mazdaspeed.

Well, On paper because there is less resistance for the same boost, the turbo works less to force. But in reality, It's neglable.

weird, i feel no difference at stock boost. is he flashed? wouldnt make much sense unless the pipes expand alot under STOCK boost which mine dont. the temp difference is neglegable, a few degrees wont change the fact that the interwarmer and turbo are hot hot hot.
