? for FL members

Matthew:

Other than human stupidity (ie: post-hurricane) there are a few factors involved. First of all, yeah we know well in advance, but you basically have 3 options.

1. Stay in your house and hope it stays together and your crap stays inside.
2. Flee like the f'in dickens
3. Go to a shelter where you have to sleep with creeps and smelly people.

Which would you choose? Some don't have the money or transportation to get the hell out, and most FL houses are built like forts because of the hurricanes. It's mostly the stupid sh1t people do afterwards.

2. Flee like the f'in dickens

i dont know why but you just cracked me up like no tommorrow.

FL has alot of elderly people & they are hard headed when it comes to evacuating. Its not just limited to elderly though. For some reason these people think that by staying in theyre home they will be able to "save" it somehow. Im sorry but if that SOB was comming my way...Id be gone...

I'm not sure that people stay because they think they can save it - especially the elderly. The fact is it is too hard for many elderly to evacuate. If you don't drive, you have a lot of medicines that need refrigerated, and have lots of special help devices in your home because of a disability then why would you want to leave your home and go to a "shelter" where you are going to be completely uncomfortable for many days if not longer. I guess they figure at that age what else do they have besides their home (and for many it's a trailer). Their health has long gone and they've lived a long life. It's a crap shoot and the elderly come up the big losers most of the time.

I'm like you - if a cat 5 storm is coming near me I'm out of here. Unfortunately, some folks just don't have that option or feel that death is a better option than suffering miserably for days or weeks. And I can't say that I blame them. Just give us time though, I bet we'll come up with a law to cure that too (remember Terri Schiavo...).

with all the looting, the raping of 2 women and a ******* CHILD at the not-so-Superdome, it is time for the military to make examples of the punks who are really ruining it for the honest people looking for help. It is some ****** up s***. My company raised $1500 today for the red cross, knowing it will go there to take care of people. With no food, water, shower, or a decent place to perform body functions, I would be pissed too. I feel bad for those who are there. It is truly a 3rd wolrd country there.

200,000

plus now the nat'l gaurd has been given orders to shoot to kill.....finally

well they gave orders to shoot for kill for a group of people who have taken over a few streets & have driven off 8 squads of 11 police. This is where the rapings & violence has been going down....

Those looting diapers, water, and food should be allowed to eat and take care of their kids. All others, shoot to kill. Oh, don't count on the police to shoot to kill, they are looting too! check out the video!

i have been through many many hurricanes and typhoons living in flroida for about 9 years and japan for 5, and most people get killed after the storm is gone, from downed powerlines, or other stupid stuff like the generator thing etc
