LCD vs. Plasma TV's and What Kind?

Yeah both of you guys are right. I was trying to make it more dramatic than what it was. Anybody who owns either or wins. Big difference between both. With the lcd in 5 years or so you have to replace just the bulb depending on wear and tear. With the plasma in 5 years or so you have to replace the entire tv. And I know this because I have talked with many people associated with electronics including televisions. (gossip) That is what they tell me but they also said for the $, the DLP is better than both.

P.S. I am new here but not in the "other" forum. Representing Illinois.

Oh well then i apologize for falsly calling u a noob. And yes you are correct...SOME lcd's blubs are replacable...in fact Sharp's tvs are user replacable, blubs cost $250 so that is a plus. I don't know about DLP being the best tho. Best for the money perhaps, but some people see the rainbow effect, dims significatly when viewed from an angle, and blubs last only about 5,000 hours and are expensive to replace.

1. Plasma now have less burn in and longer pixel brightness then standard CRT TVs.

2. Both have limited life spans by reliability reports but both are new technologies at this size and use. The current models realiabilities will not be known for years to come. Iu have plasmas at my office that have been going for over 4 years and they have almost never been turned off. I have seen others explode within a year. User error cuased that though.

3. You will find just as many people that like each from all levels experience.

4. The reality is that at this point, the arguments of each technologies design differences effect the end result is useless. There will be far more difference LCD to LCD then from an LCD that is identicly capable as a plasma.

5. DLP is not yet a flat panel technology like either LCD or Plasma.

6. DLP is the new hot button. It is no more superior to LCD then plasma is to it. They are all just different meathods of accomplishing the same end, a great picture. Although not seen in standard home video formats, for data projection, DLP sucks. The yellows become green in most models. This is not true of the better DLP projectors that are still $50,000+ at my cost.

Eventualy one screen type may become better then another but this is just no the case yet. I would say the plasmas look superior but that is only my opinion. Not to mention I get to look at a $15,000 Pioneer Elite Plasma all weekend :D. There aren't manyLCDs in that price range to compare to. Whats interesting is that many of the new fad technologies that were supposed to be the next best thing have been all but abandoned or remained used by only one company. LCOS comes to mind. Even its creators have pushed it aside.

3 WORDS

GET BETTER AUDIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, though, you have a plasma screen with a computer speaker surround sound system. Home audio rice makes me cry (sad1)

Cleaner runs of wires.

Suggestion 1: run all signal wires together out of sight and coil/tie strap extra. (try and run behind that small accessory/tv stand maybe with wire staples).

Suggestion 2: run all power wires on opposite side together in same way.

Suggestion 3: Run your wires that go to TV and speakers BEHIND the wall.

Suggestion 4: DO NOT invite a girl over to your house until you do suggestions 1-3:)

Suggestion 5: Find time to get it done.

And sure you guys are a big encouragement to getting it done just so that I can post another pic but laziness is an adiction.

Option 1: Fix Cables on plasma and get better sound

Option 2: Start taking apart my engine so I can put in what I have on order, take the block to the machine shop and all that fun stuff

Option 3: Do ramdom stuff in the house that need fixing ( I just moved in 1 month ago pluming, painting, etc.)

Option 4: Get home from a 10 hr shift and watch tv, play video games and get laid (The American Dream)

For me Option 4 will do it. But I'll get done this weekend since the guys in the forums think I'm a Home Theather Rice jajajaja (lol) (rice)

I feel ya on the busy thing. I have a list of things to do that has been piling up. I would do house first then car. I know that is a sin to say on a car forum, but your house is more important:)

That black box on the left 2nd shelf with a dvd burner is a computer with Media Center Edition 2005 conneted to the Scientific Atlanta 3250 via firewire (full hdtv quality) but a Bose Lifestyle 48 via optical from the PC would have been better I admit.

And even more important when you are a first time home owner which is my case but let me put this way the shower in one of the baths doesn't work and it hasn't since I moved in. So yeah besides the wires I need to get stuff done arround the house.

Bose sucks. No ways around it. If you want an all in one system, get AVIDEA by Boston Acoustics.

I wouldn't say Bose sucks. It may not be your favorite, but they have some good home audio options with good specs.

Edit: AVIDEA is overpriced, not very aesthetically pleasing, and most systems suffer at higher volume levels. Not a bad product, but has its downfalls.

I'm not an audio expert but I didn't see any AVIDEA that supports Dolby Digital EX or DTS-ES I would keep those in mind but the Bose doesn't support that either. Oh and Bose is not the best choice for Audio at least I don't think so. One thing I usually look for is THX Certified.

The AVIDEA 770 supports both of those formats, I am not sure about the 610

Also, I completely understand about the house and time. I am just starting to proactively fix things and I have been here for 2 years.

Just imagine this:
1) Watch movies that are showing in theaters.
2) Play any PC game.
4) Have all the mp3s or pics you want to.
5) Record live tv in Full HDTV quality (better than DVD)
6) Schedule to record shows from any PC with an Internet Connection.

Of course you get the regular play dvd's and all of that stuff.

++ DO ALL OF IT IN YOUR PLASMA ++

What do you say if all of that was wife compatible (by wife compatible I mean dumb easy)

Oh and almost forgot only two remotes including all devices. Which if you have a HP remote it control the whole system and have only one remote.
