Well, I'll post the dynos here in a second... but for now, here is the story...

Did my first dyno with the car today... it was way way too hot. You'll see the temp on one of the dyno graphs was at 101.45... they didn't have that good of a fan either, just one big slow industrial fan, which didn't do a lot. My car saturated almost immediatley and it was downhill from there basically. I saw water temps get up over 215 degrees (over 99C) which I've never seen in all my beating on it on the roads... oil temps also got very high as well, but stayed in check and were safe (peak around 225 degrees). So needless to say it was excruitatingly hot. Who knows how much power that cost me.

Here is the summary, and more posts will come with the results.

Peak SAE corrected: 255-261 at 13.2 psi MAX stable boost
Peak STD corrected: 261-269 at 13.2 psi MAX stable boost
(typically heald between 12.9 and 13.1 psi)

I had TONS of problems with the Profec Spec-II EBC... it pulsed and jumped and we did 30 runs total and I got about 5 or 6 that didn't pulse... tried tons of setting combinations and the same thing all the time.. so you'll see that in the dynos here and there.

Dave (Pro5) will post his dynos later today when he get back.. he dynoed close to me as far as results.. and he was in Hawaii and has a different mods list...

Mods List for Turfburn's MP3:
Microtech Standalone EMS (LT8S)
Evo III 16G turbo
Spool Intercooler (20x9x2.25)
1.25 spool tubular manifold
2.25" Spool downpipe to 3" exhaust from DP back
Magnaflow muffler
Ported and polished intake manifold
ported and polished head
Ferrea exhaust valves (stock size)
8.9:1 CP pistons
550CC Mopar injectors
MSP LSD.
Cold Air intake.

Here are some graphs for 10 psi.

Here are two 13 psi graphs... one is a smooth good run at 13 psi (based on profec reading... boost gauge showed 12.5-13 psi.. Microtech read 12 psi max). and then the highest peak run you can see the pulsing (the pulses would max out at 15 psi and drop to 10 psi and back up... but stabalized at 5800 rpm's and held at 13.2 psi.

thanks!

The big thing I wonder is how much more I could have done if it wasn't so damn hot and the boost controller hadn't been acting up... realize that every psi is nearly 14 horse roughly... so any time the EBC isn't giving me a good hold at 13 psi I'm losing horse...

I was also surprised to find out that VICS actually hurt performance... that is in another thread.. I posted comparative dynos that we ran for that.

here is showing the difference between VICS open and closed

Here is a 3rd and 4th gear pulled back to back...

obviously gear doesn't matter.

outside of car videos... the flames and smoke you see in one is from the progressive cut the microtech allows.. it cuts half the injectors.. so it results in misfire and flames when it rev limits the engine... so that's normal/correct... and if you want to throw flames at some ricer at a stoplight... knock yourself out... but anyway here are some video links:

And that's me in the passenger seat.

so how do you like the microtech? Is tuning fairly simple, or rocket science?

That's probably the single biggest advantage of the microtech other than price... a monkey can tune it. It's so straight forward and intuitive to tune... and as you can see from my dynos the resolution is plenty good as you can see how flat and even my AFR's are. So yeah.. it's unbelievably easy to tune, and nearly as easy to install. the manuals I've written for installing it make it super simple too.

Good to see the original Spool MP3 still alive and kicking.

Yep :). I was glad to beat Terry's original dyno of 253 at 13 psi... same basic turbo kit etc... the 16G isn't every efficient.. only like 72% peak efficiency... the GT28RS that some of these guys are using gets like 78%...

Car has been through a lot... and is still doing great :)

Good numbers man! Glad she is running strong. Comparing yours and MAM's runs, I find it hard to believe that azian6er made 285whp at 13psi with no EMS. Maybe his dyno numbers were screwed a bit. Let's see what the numbers were in Hawaii, I would asume that they would be a bit better due to the elevation humidity.

I'm surprised Dave hasn't posted his yet... I'll have to call him today and see what is up. He ran about the same numbers actually. nearly identical, but at 1 psi higher than me for the 261 horse. I think He might have made 268@ 14 I believe is what he said. And he is running a HUGE intercooler (even bigger than mine) and he is running a GT42 turbo, which is also massive. His tune is not QUITE as aggressive as mine, but pretty close. So yeah, Azian6er's dyno is very high. I'd like to see it on a dynojet... but one of our guys with the Microtech has a Thumper Kit and we should get dyno's out of him in the next couple of months... so that will help answer some questions too.

Sup guys sorry about the delay. After I got home for the dyno my wife said were going out. LOL! So I didn't have time to post up. Yeah I did about 5 runs. The first 2 were at 10psi 3rd and 4th gear and the other 3 were at 14psi the first in 3rd and the last 2 in 4th. For me 4th gear yeilded better number due to the size of my turbo (which is a GT30/40R not a GT42 :D ) I don't have all my print outs cause I was one of the first to run out of the 7 of us but will be picking them up later on this week. At 10psi in 4th gear I ran 234hp at 243ft lbs. At 14psi in 4th gear the best I got was 268hp at 274ft lbs.

The guy that was running my car on the dyno said that my car pulls nice and smooth and that I am probably not even in the turbos efficientcy range yet. It will be happy when I get it in the 16 to 18psi range and up. In the vids you can hear that it is not even hitting its stride yet so we will see what happens next time. All my runs were all SAE corrected and done on a dynojet. It was about 92 degrees during my dyno pull and there was one small fan blowing towards my intercooler. I am pretty happy with the results especially considering its tune. I want to see if there is a difference when Steve sends me the more aggresive timing maps and I will start to lean out my maps a little better. Right now my A/F's were in the low 11's and would touch 10 towards the top of my rpm range at 14psi. I will post up some vids along with my dyno graphs later on.

Oh yeah mod list...... :p

Spool tubular manifold
GT30/40R
Full mandrel bent 3" exhaust (built myself ;) )
FMIC (core size 26"x11.5"x3.5")
Microtech LT8s
550cc injectors
CP pistons 8.5:1
Pauter rods

And thats it as far as power mods.

Dave
