Does the B&M short throw shifter also reduce the height of the shifter? because aside from a shorter throw I wouldnt mind a lower shifter, the shifter in the P5 is pretty damn tall. Anyone know what im talking about? Im looking for a shifter height about the same size as the RX-8 or MSP or something around that line...hell anything that is shorter than the stock shifter!

you might find some pics if you do a search, but the B&M is the 'tallest' of all the short-shifters. if you want something noticably shorter (in height), go with another brand.

i think kartboy is the shortest of the shortshifters

other than that.. there's the MSP 'short shifter', there's the TWM.. probably others i'm not thinking of right now

The shorter the stiffest.

I'va had a B&M for over 3 years now and I'm very satisfied. The only drawback is that it is VERY stiff in winter, noticeably easier to operate when warmer. It would be a nightmare with a kartboy.

The B&M is made of a single machined bar of stainless steel, so if road salt is a problem...

My .02

this be what u need to compare.. got this off of a thread here long ago.. lolz..

i got the b&m.. yes it's a lil high.. and since i dun use the stock shift knob.. i just but off a lil off the top lolz.. works better imo...

well Im thinking I might go more tward kartboy because they have a shifter/bushing combo kit thing for $105, where as the TMW costs 129 for just the shifter...which leads me to another question, is it good to get new bushings when it comes to purchasing a short shifter? what do they do exactly? My decision is still up in the air about this so nothing is official but the opinions and responses have been very helpful so far

keep them coming please!

Get the TWM gen2 shifter and you get bearings for the shift linkage under the car and then just buy the Kartboy bushings for the other end. The TWM is mad tight. PM Maxx Mazda see what he thinks.

my buddy has a B&M, he's not impressed.
another has a TWM in his mz3, he likes it a lot... i'm probably gonna go from my MSP one to a TWM

Well if you guys argue enough, and send me cookies, I might be able to choose.

BTW Ken, I tried my card twice, I will try another one tomorrow, I want the oil cap and eurolites! Order 380 and 382.

hmm - like my B&M alot actually. drove a car with the kartboy and hated it :(

Same..I like my B&M actually. The shifter is longer so it's closer to the steering wheel.

I have the twm shifter with the kartboy bushing i like it alot. I never have a problem with it.

Can anyone post a pic of the B&M??I'm also sick of the stock shifter and I'm looking to change to a short shifter.

I dunno what kind of picture you are looking for. This is the B&M, Greddy knob, and leather shift boot
