Has anyone bought these parts?

I'm thinking of upgrading my p5 engine, but decided turbo wasn't practical in the long run(too expensive, lower gas milage, might blow my engine, etc.)
Does anyone have a recomendation for a good supercharger? Or has anyone know about a carbon-fiber air ram hood i've seen online? Here's a pic, it looks pretty cool.

There's a supercharger in the works called WOMP. Click the link in my sig.

As for the ram air hood, it's cool, but rather expensive. If you were to go N/A, there are better things to spend 1 grand on...

just so you know, supercharging an engine will have as much risk of blowing it up as a turbocharger would. air is air no matter how you force it in the engine

That's not totally true. There is still a risk with a supercharger, of course, but it's not as great a risk as a turbo. Superchargers have no risk of spiking, and the charge temps are a lot lower, so less risk of detonation.

I thought about getting that hood, but honestly I dont think the 10 hp increase at highway speeds form that little inlet is gonna make that much of a difference unless you commonly accelerate from 80 mph.

sorry but i disagree with you. the risk is equally great with a supercharger if its not done right just as if a turbo is not done right. there are also risks involved with a supercharger that are not with a turbo but thats a whole other topic.

Ken's right there are always risks to anything you do to the car. Until enough WOMP's are out and people haven't been reporting breakdowns, anything is possible...

But keeping it on topic, if you're looking to increase your hp and spend around 1k, you may be better off getting intake/header/exhaust in the car. That'll add more than the 10hp of the ram air hood/sri combo.

Or another option is engine management like the Haltech f10. Either option would probably make you happier/$ in my opinion.

I am not trying to single out WOMP (nor would I ever as I support the project) in my statement, just forced induction in general.

I do agree that a header/intake/exhaust/midpipe combo would be far more beneficial than the ram air hood. We don't drive Trans Ams after all :D

if you spend the money for fuel management on N/A, the f10 is probably not the best way to go. something like the Microtech or the E6X is better suited to wringing more power from an N/A car

Trans Am also saw a 10 hp gain from ram air. And that was a 3k option! Well... came w/stiffer suspension and a special "WS6" badge. wow.

You mentioned efficiency............a turbo is more efficient than a supercharger. just get a turbo and run low boost levels. even though i'm staying n/a the only way to get major power will be with a turbo/forced induction. no matter what you do to the car it'll cost you....but its so worth it.
