Forged parts

yeah, and who knows, he might even destroke (to a custom length) the engine... I don't know... and I know he'll get the largest rod ratio he can, anything to make it rev up there better. and the crank should be MEGA strong, able to withstand the crazyness that toyota motors endure at such high RPMS, but with the power to boot.

and for those interested, Beau is projecting the "budget" rods to be in the $400-$450 range. but we'll see.

oh god...you tell him if he makes a crank that puts us down around 1.9 liter...something like 89mm of stroke...or even 86, which puts us down on an FP's displacement...I will buy three...I dearly want less than 92mm of stroke, but I don't want the FP's supposed weak crank...and I don't want that big of a chance of a loss at lowend either...

But with like 88mm of stroke...I could get it to hold 8700rpm or so no problem, and with overall slower piston speed than what I am at now, and an even better rod ratio for high rpm breathing...oh man I gotta call this guy...

i have a 3000hp protege. the 4 blocks it uses are scattered in the grand rapids area in recycle lots. no dyno yet, i need to get the 4 engines running first.

aaahhhh...if we are playing that game, that JIC ES protege drag car of a few years ago was claiming nearly 700whp (first testing at 550whp, then a second test with a higher redline of 700)...with a custom dog box (so we know the gearbox was changed enough to handle the power)...

I am not going to lie to you guys...I don't care about max numbers...hell 400whp in a FWD car is beyond sillyness to me...but the rumor of a 1.9liter crank is enough to make my knees buckle...I guarantee I would be all over 9,000 rpm out of a custom FS than 400whp...

just to get the turbo guys balls all buttered...and I belive this car officially broke 9 seconds with a race weight of under 2400lbs...

it is so hard to find legit info on it anymore...it was pretty secret, but a guy came on the Pclub singin' its praises a few years ago...but the final dyno was approaching 700whp at like 7800rpm with a T-55 or something...I am not much of a turbo guru, but I vaguely remember that IC piping being in the 3.5" area...with a full 4" exhaust system...turbo lag like nuts, but max power like penis...and trap speeds like puss...

Not sure...It was a Ziel motorsports car I think...their website never released anything official...but it was claimed to be a real drag car in some serious import dragging...and they also built a 350Z drag car I think...

but you would email those guys, and never get stuff back that answered anything...just like "you will hear a lot more about this car in the near future"...SCC showed a single picture of it in that Celica driving guys column, but I forget what it was even about...

it had some hellish sponsers, which were put to the test...JIC gave a large budget for the exhaust system and overall engine work...it had a fully custom block with a completely redesigned cradle area...the block was also longer, to allow room for some boring...while the gearbox was shorter (no bid deal because of the dog cogs in it...they take up less space and are 50 times stronger with a lack of synchros)...

I will try to dig up some of those old threads on it...but I heard rumors of it popping, with only a certain number of spare engines built for a season...and it never even made it to racing, for that reason...too many popped during testing, and it wasn't as simple as finding a replacement FS to rebuild...everything was custom...but again, all that could be BS...I tried as hard as i could to find out everything that was done to it, but it was mostly rumors I think...not sure how much of it was true...but the picture illustrates that it had some grand balls beneath its hood...

actually SCC had two pics of it...this is all I could find...from what I can tell it is the same car...and yeah, that is a parachute box on the back of the second pic...its more than equipped for 8 sec. passes...furthermore...thats not a roll bar...thats not a roll cage...thats what we in the business refer to as a roll apparatus...

We'll see how much money Beau can put into a Protege. I'm thinking its going to be a few bucks :)

id be interested in the cheaper rods, i dont want to hit over 255whp cause that would put it out of my daily driver range, so if they hold 400whp that be plenty of ins. good idea.

The billet cranks are custom.I will be running a destoked crank :)

!1!111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how much destrokage?...and what crank material?...what crank weight?...will it be balanced for high rpm, or is that part up to us?...any ideas on the tensional/torsional/inertial load baring strength?....

and lastly how much money for one, and when are they availalbe?...Don't be frightened, I know they are far from cheap...

Our setup is still on the low down right now.Let's just say it's heavily modded. The cranks are billet 4340 steel.Yes, it will be balanced. As for tensional/torsional/inertial load info that is in the works.Keep inmind the cranks are custom. If you want stroked, stock or destroked you can have it.

Awesome, now we just need traction. :) Haha.

I'm glad to hear that Beau is going balls out for these things. Can't WAIT to see the results!

Also, any idea on how Beau's rods will compare to (dare I say) Pauter rods? I ask this because Pauter rods are already cheaper than Oliver rods, and Beau's rods sounds like they should be even cheaper than Pauter. :)

PS - Speaking of Quaife, Beau should run some crazy group buy on them. :D

The H-beam rods will be good for roughly 400-450HP.Now their are many many other 4 bangers running H-beams making 600whp and not having issues.Personally if feel if you are looking to make that power you need the best(Oliver).

i'd definatly be interested in cheaper forged rods. MAM is gonna be getting lot of my business pretty soon
