Terry: A/C compressor placement...

Date of manufacture (as promised) 08/01, 2002 model year purchased 09/01

Ahh. Ok, well mine was made 04/01...so it COULD be a manufacturing date thing...anyone have any between 04/01 and 08/01 to help narrow it down?

TIP: bend it very carefully. :)
Actually it wasn't too bad, the pipe bend pretty good, I tried to make sure I bent them in a new location as opposed to where they were already bent. I was afraid that if I kept bending them where there was already a bend that I might kink them off. In the end it bent pretty easy.

I could have bent them as far out of the way as Terry did, but I was nervous and stopped when I had it clear of the intake pipes. Figured that was good enough, and as you saw on other pics, you can't see it anyway. :)

Beavis, thanks again man. If you get a chance, shoot me a pic of the lines so that I can bend them in the same place as yours. Ditto for the passenger side. So how's the kit running?

I'll have to figure out a way to get a pic of those, but I might just have to put my summer tires back on. It's only 30 right now. . .winter ain't over or something. . .damn, I thought it was spring.

Anyway, the kit is running okay. Still a little worried about fuel and such, so I haven't messed with it too much.

Looks like the spring I have in the wastegate is only good for about 4 psi as well and that is the "boost spike" normally it only runs at about 3 psi. So, no night and day difference, but there is definitely a difference.

I guess I just have to spend the money on a boost controller and get it over with. Damn. . .all my money is going to be tied up in this, but at least I've been giving it to someone on this forusm (Terry, go figure. . .but he's earned it with all the "free" tech support).

Crawled under the car and got this pic.

Hope it helps.

I think I'll try to take some pieces out of the way and get you a pic from the top side that shows the tubes. I'll do that in a little bit.

Anyway, I hate not even knowing what that piece is. Does anyone KNOW what that canister is?

Alright, I got a picture that will help with bending the tubes and positioning the AC thing. Here it is:

I know, but the spot that looks kinked is the factory bend (at least on my car), the other tubes are all curvy and such because those are the ones I bent. Like I said, I just tried to prevent it from kinking. . .or kinking any further.

I'm sure it still works, but since it is only in the 30s here right now, I doubt I'll be using the AC for a little while yet.

LOL, amen to that, brother. Hell, I haven't even installed the kit yet and he's probably already spent more than a few hours answering my questions, etc.

Ahh, nice pic. That looks doable. Your bends look pretty good.

Even though it's in the 30's, could you do us all a favor and turn the ac on anyway? Use it next time you use you defogger or something (having the AC on makes it use the condensor so it works better). Also, it's good to run your AC from time to time in the winter so the lines don't dry out or some crap like that. :D

Thanks a bunch, Beavis. I really appreciate all you've done for myself and the rest of us Spool guys! :)

Does anyone have a picture of the actual downpipe and the exhaust system?

do the downpipe has to be welded in some way or just hooked up the exhaust pipe?

You could have it welded on. The shop that did mine put a clamp on it in case I ever needed to remove it. If it was welded on that would be a pain, but not impossible.

I was trying to get some feedback about how others did theirs with the "exhaust mods" thread I started, but no one has replied.

So, that's what I did, but there is probably a better way to do it.
