Still new to this photography thing where you can actually use different settings for a camera, so advice is always welcome ;) A real tripod is on the way, so that will help as well.

This is half of my demon eye kit, other half will be installed soon:

And three pictures because I was inspired!

Pick up a neutral density filter for your camera. It'll cut light coming into it by 50%, allowing for a more balanced exposure and less drowning out by the lights.

Next time move car forward a lil more so the light pole isn't in the shot if possible

Set metering on spot metering - so that it doesn't take into account the overpowering headlights.

Also, fun stuff with manual mode. Using P to get the camera's readings of shutter speed and aperture, enter those values into manual mode. THEN, activate the flash. You can increase/decrease flash values so you can play with that. But it'll really help you get some additional depth in the front of the car.

Also, changes in shutter speed will affect how lights are displayed. Here's a couple examples. First is a faster speed (1-2 seconds), second is slower (15 seconds)

You'll also notice a difference in the depth of field - the ground is out of focus with the faster shutter (larger aperture for light); and ground is in focus with slower shutter (smaller aperture). This lets you be creative because you can select what's in focus and out.

You can also use the tripod and flash combo to create reflections off of things originally that normally aren't picked up by a 15 second exposure. Example attached. No, we're not being erased by the Space Time Continuum!

If you have Gran Turismo 4, it's actually a pretty damned good chance to learn about this kinda stuff. Fun too!

badgerbiker- how did you make it so that your fog lights came on without the headlights on too?? im pretty sure with mine u gotta have the headlights on to get the fogs on.... thanks in advance.

My headlights are on in a couple of them. In the one picture I have my foglamps on, parking lights on, and my DDEs on.

I have my foglamps independantly wired up, so they are able to turn on with the 12v ignition.

Here is the URL to the directions. (Off-site)

That looks like my car in the back, but it's not. When was this pic taken?

Yea the first starved rock meet. Most of the others were off climbing around the trails. On the left is Mattman, on the right is me holding Nicole.
