Tent on top of P5

I have an "Overcamp" tent on top of my VW Bus. It is on a Thule roof rack with rain gutter feet. I am looking into putting it on our P5. I think I remember reading here that Thule's non-rain gutter feet will not fit on a P5 with factory roof rack. The tent weighs 115lbs. Does anyone how much weight the factory roof rack bars hold? More info at on tent at www.loftyshelters.com

consult your manual buddy. I think our racks are in the range of 120lbs. to 150lbs max. In fact I think there is a sticker right on the rack stating the max weight.

I had a simular setup on my 66 bug in my early 20's. aaahhh the good old days (hippy) (stoned) (sssh) :D

Yes Logan we do sleep up there. Plus we use it to watch sports car racing at places like Mid Ohio etc. It comes with a ladder to climb up into it.

We live by the old VW camper motto "Leave now sleep when you get there"

I'm not afraid of heights, but I would be worried about that fall.
Good idea to watch races though!

Looking at the link you provided, I don't think the P5 would have any problems having one of those on top. I was pretty intrigued and may consider getting one for camping in the desert. I like to take road trips and this on-the-roof tent looks awesome. If I get tired on a road trip I can simply pull over and catch a few Zzzs. Thanks for the link!
