MPI\MP3 ECU Timing

arlright...Im back home for a few days from college and get to spend a little time with my car. Tommorow morning I will be installing the MP3 ecu into my car in order to get rid of that check engine for good.

I have toyed with the MPI software and stuff but Nick has really been the one that has done most of my tuning..Well that time is over...

I neeed all of you guys that are running the MP3 ECU and the MPI to help me out on some of my timing maps..What should I be pulling and where?

I run a T3, at 6 psi of boost right now...Also, if I raise the boost to say 8 or 10, how much more should I pull? Do boost pressure and timing pull on this ECU resemble a sort of linear relationshio, or is it basically trial and error...

I wish I had a J&S right now...but I dont...Damn

Bout time you do some more with that thing. Here is my 8psi map with the T3/T4. The timing map is similar to Little Beavis' map he gave me with a little more taken out here and there. Looking at it, you will see where these things like to make noise with too much timing. He pulled timing based off of his J&S readings, so they are acurate. I experienced a little knock here and there, so I pulled a bit more out just to be safe. G/L

now shoudl I decrease these values at all since my boost pressure is lower by a decent amoumt?(6psi on a T3 vs 8 psi on a T3/T4)?

Yeah you can do that since I am at a higher psi, but I don't know how much to bring it down. I think maybe a degree or 2, but I say leave it alone and crank it up to 8psi and have some fun.

hehe I love that too....looks like Ill have to get the AVC-R all tuned up too..yay for meeeee

How about PaulMp3, Beavis, and anyone else running the MP3 ecu and the MPI?

Here's a picture of my map attached. Keep in mind that I had my MAF unhooked for a while, and now have it hooked back up again. I have slowly started dialing in the boost retard again, so the numbers in the 1x16 column are low.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!! Got enough timing taken out man? Maybe you have that J&S too sensitive.

I've tested it. I know it is the cas on MY car now as of now. I think my car just wants to be special and different and s***. :(

how can i really do this without a J&S and still know im putting in the right values?

Start with one of ours and listen for any noise. If you think you hear something, take some more out. I know it's not as acurate, but it'll have to do.

My GOD!!!!

-20???????????????....understandable on the MP3 ECU

have you ever taken it to the dyno?
what EGT readings you have?

Yes, I'm back. . .well sort of. . .

That timing seems to be WAY high. . .

Also, it would depend upon where your global settings are. . .if the min/max timing settings are less than max, then it really isn't pulling or adding one degree per integer as we're assuming.

Heck, my timing was aggressive when I did that. . .made it so no lights would come on. Pulled some of it back to let the J&S do its job and get a light every now and then rather than never. . .but can't tune right now. . .computer issue.

Nick said that with the direct coil control, each value is a degree. So a -1 is 1 degree less than the stock ECU normally would have. So the Min/Max values are the limits as to how much you can add or take away, not like it used to be before.(you know what I mean)(thumb)
