i am big into reptiles, but can't say I know much about the reef life. I've got 3 things I smuggled back in from my little trip over the summer. my jellyfish, a (dead) sponge and a (previously dead) piece of sea brush?

Anyway, I recently put a more powerful light on the tank and the brush seems to have come back to life. It looks almost like a seahorse's head. There is a sac with an opening, and when it senses vibration, it empties the sac and shrivels up. I am positive this is a living aspect, but have no idea what it may be.

Any clue?

i know alot about reef tanks. i have one myself. but i dont know what the hell that is.... it may be a defensive tool.. who knows..... call yout loacl salt water fish store...

...i have a 10 month old red ear slider, a crawfish and a couple fish! they all live happy together! nothing to funky like that thing you have........

I don't keep salt tanks, but I have 6 freshwater tanks setup. Whatever it is, its defintely something living. Could be some kind of anemone...what do you have it anchored to? It's not just sitting in the substrate is it? If it is, go buy some live rock and attach it to that...it'll do much better. What kind of lighting is on the tank?
