Tell me if I'm wrong but isn't it bad to have the subs split apart that far? I've got 2 10" subs from another install, and I want to do the same thing. I've heard though that due to the distance of seperation the subs can fire at different times. Is that true?

if your going for a show winning car you might be worried about that sort of thing ... however ive never herd of it being a problem

yes it is its notthat they fire at diffrent times thats if the share the same space with no ports.. what youll get up with a set up like that is bass cancellation but he has them angled at the back seats soo it might be such a deal.

I spoke to a guy i know who works for a store here that installs sound systems n stuff and he says the best way to make something with fiberglass directly on the car is to use foil ... put it everywhere you want fiberglass and lay the fiberglass on it. when your done, you just peal off the foil and that's it

haven't see him do it though, but i guess everybody has his own way

Foil isn't adhesive on the back which means it won't stay in place while you fiberglass...you can do a layer of tape, then spray the tape with spray-adhesive, then stick foil over it for best results. The only advantage though, is that it will pop out of your mold a little easier. Masking tape can usually be pealed from the back of fiberglass once it has dried but when you only use tape it can be tough to get your fiberglass piece off of your mold.

yeah ive done both methods and its allot less hassle to spray glue the aluminum foil to the tape. it can be peeled off quite easily and the foil comes off the fiberglass allot easier then tape.

i prefer tape ... myself ... i use some WD40 on a rag and wipe the tape with it ... dont have a problem with it coming off ...

bah maybe he uses tape. all i wanted to say is that you can do it in your car and not ruin everything by puting foil on the ground .... now what you do before putting the foil ? i dont know, i've never done it. but that guy has done hundreds of cars so i think he knows what he's doing. If putting tape is the best way to do it, he probably does it ? i dont know

most shops like to use the foil tape so they dont have to remove the panels wich works just fine ... i like to remove the panels that way my car dosent smell like resin for the next 2 years ... but it all boils down to personal choice ....

its the world of car audio, there is always more then one way to get something done. in car audio theres ususlaly a half dozen diffrent ways of doing the same thing.

I've just never bothered with foil, but I DO put a piece of string behind my molds, so that I've got something to pull 'em out with. When I first did my sub box, It was a REAL pain in the ass just with the tape. But do the same thing wiht a piece of string wrapped around behind the tape, and it's supersimple..

Where do you guys end up putting your jacks once you fiberglass over that area? I want to make a custom box but worry about where to put the jack so it won't rattle around.

i took a peice of cloth and made a nifty lil baggy for the jack and stuck it right next to the spare ...works great and no rattle
