505zoom, I was wantin pics of how to install the hks ssqv. I read the thread from mach 3.5 turbo and seen how he did it to the stock pipes, but is there another way. I went to HOW TO and didn't see it any thing on it anywhere. Could you help me out. And how exactly do the bpv and the ssqv work together to kill the compressor surge??
hey you know what, i'm with the electrician here. i'm looking for a nice BOV myself, and i was dead set on the Turboxs rfl. if it still has the turkey though i'm gonna have to find something else. i want a nice loud hiss when i shift. also, what BOV can i install on the stock piping? or is it necessary to have hard pipes installed on our cars to have an aftermarket BOV??
right now all i have done in a TurboXS MBC thats what made me lean toward the rfl BOV.
There is a thread here which explains how to get a BOV on the stock plastic pipes. Just search for BOV on stock pipes.
I never trusted that method because I believe the flange was just epoxied on the stock plastic which I don't think will hold that long.
I went with the hardpipes coupled with an HKS SSQV open vent and the stock BPV recirculating back into the intake.
Do a search in the "How To" forum on "How to kill your turkey" posted by memeber 505zoom. That will expain how to install the dual valve set-up.
I have to say the HKS is loud with this set-up. It's a crazy loud whistle when shifting or letting off the throttle. I bought the purple fin for the HKS because it may be too loud for me.
Hope that helps.
If you're close to southern jersey, you're more than welcomed to stop by if you need help or want to check out the set-up.
Stock IC pipes..screw that HKS pipe, i had one custom made!
hey i ran into the problem of installing the HKS SSQV BOV on the car, so instead of payin 90 bucks or more for a universal pipe that requires welding, i had my friend's dad custom make one out of aluminum, and it uses 3 hex screws to hold it to the BOV. it plugs right into the stock IC pipes with a hose clamp.
