Soft/long brake pedal

Ive had my msp in the shop 4 times to try to get back my brake pedal feel...standard procedures have been used. Bleeding and flushing the system. I even bled the system myself after a recent track event. However IMO the pedal is still long---I can push it to the stopper which is beyond the accelerator pedal making heel/toe difficult during hard braking at track events. As I recall previously the brake pedal under pressure would come inline with the accelerator and not go beyond.

It has been suggested that the ABS system should be bled. Can you bled the ABS and has anyone else had similar issues?

Brake mods:
CarbTech pads front/rear, SS lines, motul600 fluid.

how worn are your pads mine likes to go soft when i am about half way through the pad.

I noticed the things with the pads getting low causing a softer pedal... Make sure your master cylinder reservoir is nice and full, one... Use really good brake fluid with a high boiling point, too. Make sure NO air gets back into the brake system when bleeding. If you crush the brakes a lot, too, your brake lines may be really stretched and worn out. Braided stainless steel is your friend. =)

My car has braided lines, and I swapped out the master cylinder for a 929 ABS master. Talk about a difference in pedal feel! It's nice and hard, though it takes more force, but less travel, to use the brakes. I wrote a how-to up, too, if you're interested in that as an upgrade.

well i just ordered my new m/c. do you know if the brake booster from the 929 is a dual or single stage?

can you check that one out for me i know mine feels like a dual stage booster and i would ove to lacate a single stage like we always did in the subarus, they always helped with pedal feel. its funny you aren't very far from where i livein kingston nh. perhaps i found who would do the MC swap with me??

You know, I have no idea! I didn't even think of the brake booster from the 929.

Oh, no s***? Kick ass. =) Yeah, I can help you try and do the master cylinder swap. It's pretty easy, but I'm still working out a way to get better clearance for the intake system. I think I know how I'm gonna do it, but I need a banjo bolt I can test, as I just want to grind it down to half the head height, and smooth off the edges a little so it doesn't bump into the intake. I'm not sure if it would on a MSP, but I know it does on my P5 with the Injen intake, but it would definitly be a good project! Let me know if you want to meet up at any point to do the install.

You still have an elbow coming off of your throttle body and going down to the outlet of your intercooler, though. =) That's what I was thinking of. I don't really think it'll be an issue, either way, but that's what being a gineau pig is all about! ;)

here are a few pics there isn't much room at all but i guess i will see. so this is my car so you know to wave.

Oh, wow... Yeah, that's REALLY tight in comparison to when I was going to put mine in. I'm guessing that that banjo is definitly going to rub, and hard, against the intake pipe. We might be able to wiggle and relocate it a little, but I'm not sure.

For future reference, here's my car, if you see it. ;)

The pads are worn close to half way

The pads are worn close to half way. Pad replacement was the next in the list to try out in the process of elimination but I figured it shouldn't be an issue since as the pads are worn they get pushed toward the rotors...or so i thought.

***I did finally get the m/c bled and it made a slight difference in firmness but the pedal still doesnt feel the same and continues to go beyond the accelerator.
