I was thinking about it....I don't know though, I hate making things look "pretty". It's a car.....it should be bare metal anyways.

yeah, Lucky Dodge (that's really the owner's name, no kidding :D) is a very cool guy.
he prototyped my car for the kit for MSP.
his garage looks bad-ass.....it's like 3 stories high.

If anything it helps you get more familiar with your car and future problem areas to be aware of. Plus in reality replacing the stock hoses somewhat forces you to clean up mazdas sloppy job

Less clutter= less hoses or wires resting on hot objects = less annoying problems.

I replaced all the vacuum lines again. This time I used the correct size, 3/16" fuel line. I found one that was not super thick and looks nice. I like it better than the 7/32" vacuum line since I was afraid it would melt (we all know how hot it gets under the hood) and it was just a bit big (1/32" big to be exact).

nahh, those lines (even very thin ones) are designed not to melt.
unless it touches the turbo.....then anything would melt......

i lit a sigarrette off my turbo at the track once :D

You are probably right, but since I replaced the wastegate line with a 3/16" fuel/emissions line since I did not want to use a soft vacuum line that would expand, I also replaced the other 2 lines (BPV and IM). The 3/16" line fits better over the nipples. 7/32" was a bit big.

You mean the one that goes from your intake mani to your turbo wastegate? There shouldn't be anything going from your intake manifold to your exhaust manifold except your egr tube, and that is made of metal. Got a pic of the tube you are talking about?

ok maybe im wrong about the name but, it goes from the intake pipe, up to the valve cover (actually under it) not sure what its called, obviously but, im wanting to replace it with a yellow hose....
the pic attatched is referencing the hose (with the red arrow pointing to it)

thanks!!

bump for an old thread but i have a question... i was thinking about getting the hose techniques kit... my hoses look like they are going to go bad any minute now but all i see is a protege5/regular protege kit... will this work for the MSP and have the lines that go to the BPV and whatnot? Thanks in advance!

i remember a long time ago...probably around beginning of last year i think people tried using hose techniques p5 kit for the msp and had minor hose length issues. i could be wrong though but im pretty sure.

Hey guys,

Bringing up an old thread here, but what sort of clamps did you guys use when replacing your vacuum hoses? Did you re-use the stock one?

Thanks
