About 4 months into CX-5 ownership, just some thoughts

What a pleasant surprise: - wing mirrors defrost - the audio volume control is much more subtle (than the Mazda 3) with small volume changes between each 'indent' -My GT hit empty at 450km. My CX hits 3/4 empty at 450km. In a larger, heavier car with just as much kick up top. I'm laughing. -...

    Going from a 2007 Mazda3 GT (hatchback) to a CX-5

made the exact same switch. 07 avg mpg was around 24-25 mpg. vc5 avg mpg is 28-31. thats a big diff. where the 07 depleted the last bar on the fuel guage at 450km, the cx hits 450km when it hits the 3/4 mark. no lie. (i have a cx base model in manual) \more space, roomy, engine sounds...

    Performance chip for CX-5

This is garbage. 1. Remapping an engine costs time and money and lots of dyno time. Who here thinks they went out and got a CX-5 to do this? Nutcrack bike enthusiasts volunteer their brand spanking new bikes to be used as a dyno test rig, in exchange for the free exhaust pipe that gets...

I finally did it! I bought the CX-5!

One neat thing about the CX-5 is you don't feel the weight of the car at all while slinging it around. Did you know the driver's window has auto-up? That's a favorite little discovery I had.

Why I chose the Honda CRV over the Mazda CX5

i test drove the CR-V and Rav4 quite a bit before going with the CX-5. The CRV had the best 'refinement' of all of 3 by far, and naturally had the price to match it. However the CRV felt and handled like an overweight truck. Sure it was smooth, but it wallows around in corners, and you REALLY...

    Real time consumption read out.

one small correction, at idle the readout just goes to --.-- which is their way of getting around that little white lie thing. No one wants to see the car fuel consumption while stopped and idling.

    Real time consumption read out.

lets say you are coasting at around 60km/h and leave it in gear. the readout says 0.0 which should be correct since the car is in gear leaving the wheels connected to the engine. The engine in this case doesn't need to deliver fuel to the combustion chamber to keep the pistons turning over -...

Things we love about our CX-5's

Just got 29.5mpg with 100% city driving. Interior space is nice and roomy, i find it just right. Love the remote key, auto UP window feature, and 3-click turn signal option in particular still love the manual shifter car still feels incredibly light-footed and easy to drive hard.

    Perma Plate on your CX-5

Willing to bet fatphos has something to gain from this by promoting it, either a dealer or company distributor/owner. You wouldn't otherwise initially state such a high range, but then be 'happy' only paying a 'low' price for something you 'know' is bs? sorry. BS on you. Hope no one out...

    Engine Break-in Period

don't know if i agree with any of these assertions. automated engine assembly and more importantly, parts manufacturing has been around for a long long time. it;s not like they've had to spin chunks of billet on a lathe by hand to make a piston. you still have to achieve a good mating surface...

CX-5 GT or 2013 Escape SEL?

those are recalls, but when i checked service bulletins, there were zero for the cx-5 and 2 for the escape 2013 model then i checked complaints logged with the nhsta, there were about 6 different cx-5 complaints and 21 different Escape complaints. \these complaints have the same credibility as...

CX-5 GT or 2013 Escape SEL?

Last 3 tanks 36.3 MPG, 36.5 MPG, 35.3 MPG, with an Auto

For a MT and coasting in neutral. That costs you gas - what else is keeping the engine turning over? The driveline is disconnected. Coast in gear, the injectors stop firing gas unless you apply the gas pedal since the driveline will keep things spinning. Try getting up to around 80km/h and...

    Engine Oil Rise

Watching this thread for any news developments with great interest. I'm quite familiar with gasoline engines, not so much with diesels. Ever run a car that's dropped a cylinder? As in the spark won't fire? The gasoline injected into that cylinder, unburnt, always has a portion of it that...
