It looks like the place it was bought from only has dealerships in Texas. This could explain the Texas plates. Maybe they bought it from Texas and shipped it to LA? Or, maybe they stole it and drove it to LA, then put some random VIN # they found on the net on the auction... Either way, shady s****.

The one deciding factor for me is whether they'll have something to support the BOV. I don't want to end up using hoses that can't take the weight and force over time.

I don't know if I'm just imagining s***, but when I start off in the mornings, and the turbo kicks in, the lateral force pushes me back like I'm on a rollercoaster. But after about 10 mins of driving around, I no longer feel any lateral force when it kicks in. I also no longer hear the 'turkey'...
