Too bad automobile manufacturers don't provide BTU specs for their AC systems. :(
I'd be interested to know how the AC system in my '16 Durango with the Hemi V8 compares to that in the Mazda. My assumption would be that the Mazda would have a lower BTU unit based on the much-smaller engine's...
This is a real bummer if the new CX-9 doesn't only offer inadequate AC, but the lack of ventilated seats offered by its competitors as well. Not a great road trip vehicle in that case.
I'm no expert on AC systems but have noticed my vehicles with bigger engines seem to have more powerful AC. Direct correlation? The AC in my VW TDI Sportwagen (4-cyl turbo) is pathetic, the AC in my new Durango (8-cyl normally aspirated) can freeze your nads off. Perhaps the AC in the new CX-9...
You think the Highlander front end is ugly now, wait until the 2017 refresh shows up. Toyota took it out back for a second beating with the ugly stick. (puke)
There are certain options I wanted that only came in the top trims by Honda and Toyota. Honda can't seem to figure out how to put seatbelt anchors in the seat backs rather than the ceiling, hence the captains chairs.
Honda is notoriously restrictive with its options. And I think the new Pilot...
The Explorer was at the top of my shopping list...until I drove one. It has very strange ergonomics. It feels very much like driving a minivan. The Durango was far more satisfying from the driver's seat, so that's what I bought. The fantastic exhaust rumble from the Hemi in the R/T is a great...
Ditch the excessive exterior chrome and the black plastic rocker panels, wheel surrounds and lower bumpers and it could be a contender.
I still prefer my Durango R/T or the Volvo XC90 in the looks department, but there's no question the new CX-9 is a beautiful design.
I absolutely love my 2010 TDI Jetta Sportwagen. 40 mpg in mixed driving, fun to drive, top-notch build quality, not a single issue in 96k miles. Well, the radio died but that gave me an excuse to add a new CarPlay unit, so I consider that a win. :D
Agreed - there's nothing whatsoever "manly" about the new Pilot. It looks like a minivan with a long schnozz. A chromey blob with an unfinished tail and way too much going on up front. Ugh. I asked the salesman if it came with a free pair of mom jeans. :)
The 1st gen Pilot (which I owned until...
