If you buy an S40 you won't be straying that far from mazda anyway. The S40 uses the mazda3/focus chassis and suspension.

FP 1.8 from 99 onwards, and FS 2.0 in 01+ SR2 Lasers, which is basically a ford badged P5/SP20 that doesnt look as nice. BTW i think something called a ford tierra had it aswell which i think is the same as a protege underneath.

after some more driving i reckon i have definetly made gains up high, the car doesnt trail off towards the redline like it used to, i just get less of the push in the back at low rpm than i used to...the power curve seems to ramp up more now.

So what do you think of it? I had mine installed yesterday and i reckon i have lost a wack of low end torque, albeit on a 1.8. I do still have stock piping from the cat to the axle where it widens again to 2.25 with a straight thru muffler, which is probably the reason. looks really nice tho...

I just installed a simota CAI and the hissing, sucking and wooshing is the best part, oh and the growl...why else does everyone install an intake anyway? for better flow or something??? :P

After my recent rim search (does that sound odd?) ive come across these from a few suppliers, the first two might be hard for you guys to get as they are aus/nz suppliers. The third link is for BSA who sell this rim as BSA 264...

If you drive down a hill with your foot off the accelerator, i.e under engine braking, this can suck oil past worn valve guides/seals and then it burns off when you acclerate again. But since you say it happened as you left a stop sign to go down the hill, i dunno if this is significant. Worn...
