The front right (passenger side) motor mount has a tendency to get a little weak over time. I found that to be causing my noise in the front. See if the noise comes when you are at a dead stop, turn the wheel hard and give it gas... especially if you are on a hill.

Actually its a lot different for the number of gears you have. Typically 4 speed autos, 4th is overdrive, which a 3spd wouldn't have. And a 5speed manual is geared differently than a 5speed manual.. Cars with more gears get better mileage, but the number of shifter shouldn't bother you.
