After taking it apart again it seems like the top guide pin, the one that can't be removed, is stiff. The piston is compressing fine but even without the pads in place the guide pin doesn't want to allow the calliper to slide into place. Does anyone know if it can be removed and greased somehow...
Hey guys I just finished replacing the front pads and rotors and ran into an issue on the driver side. After compressing the calliper piston all the way I had a hard time getting the calliper to slip back over the pads and rotor. I ended up tapping it gently with a hammer until it seated in the...
My rear wiper stopped working a few months ago. At first I thought I was lucky because I noticed that the fuse had blown but after replacing the fuse it still didn't work. I read on a post here that sometimes the spindle that the wiper arm attaches to can rust and seize and that it can be...
Well that didn't work either... I have no more time off to work on the car so it'll have to go into a shop. Do you guys think it is safe to drive ~15 mins with it half torqued? There are a lot of threads showing so I can't imagine it ever coming off. Thanks for the suggestions
Ya it's the shaft. I read on another post that if you put the car on the wheels the nut will tighten without spinning the shaft so i am gonna give that a go.
Hey guys while tightening down the strut nut on my new rear struts I realized that it was just spinning the strut. I guess the lock plate is stripped or somehow it stripped the brand new strut. Now I am stuck!!! I can't put my old struts back in and can't finish the job on my new ones! Anyone...
Will do. I'm planning on cutting the PS/AC belt, checking the alternator belt for slippage, jump starting the car, hoping I can make it the two hour drive home!
Thanks for the suggestion i'll definitely check that out. I was thinking this morning that the pulley on the PS pump may have seized preventing my other belt from spinning freely which would not allow the alternator to charge the battery. If that's the case, I hope nothing else would was damaged...
Hi gents,
A week ago i noticed a high pitched whine/ burning smell coming from the engine bay and after bringing it to the shop, my mechanic told me it was only the power steering pump and that it wasn't an immediate concern. With that news I decided to take the car on a two hour road trip for...
No vibrations I can only really hear it at lower speeds and mostly on turns. Happens when I'm driving but if I turn the wheel at a stand still it makes a cracking noise as well. Not sure if that is a separate issue though. No vibration
I actually jacked the car up and rotated the tire and it seems to be coming from the axle where it's attached to the transmission. I'm guessing that can't be a good thing. Any other ideas?
