    Problem with brakes (2017 CX-9)

This. If I may add, The cost of turning the rotors (unless you do this yourself) to spec is often not too far from just replacing them so if the shudder is in fact because of the "high spots" it's highly recommended you explore the prospect of replacement instead.

    Roof Rack or Cargo Bag?

The cargo bags seem convenient but I personally won't put much weight on the roof, not to mention the inevitable scuffing the paint will get through repeated use. If you're willing to spend extra, I'd go with OEM rails and a good roof cargo box.

Cold weather ticking sound? 2021 CX-9

Hi everyone, I have a'21 but this might apply to others with a 2016 model onwards. Last winter, my CX-9 began making a ticking sound around the dash area when it was unusually cold. Not too bad but annoying enough. It was pretty hard to find as it almost sounded like it came from somewhere...

How to wash your engine bay?

I've always used a pressure washer to clean the engine bay on all my vehicles and make it a point to cover the ECU and remove the engine cover. Once the washing is done, I use a powerful handheld blower (Metrovac Sidekick) to clear all the water off all surfaces, harnesses, terminals, etc...

    Bad smell from air vents

I strongly recommend this product: Nextzett Cleaner (formerly Einszett) I've used it before on a different vehicle and it works really well. Smells damn good too. Please note though that recommended use entails the removal of the blower or whatever way you'll get access to the coils, which is...

Creaking Noise? Body Flex/Rear Exterior Door Trim/Weatherstripping

I had that creak on the rear doors when new, I have a '21. It's definitely the weather stripping. As there are two strips of rubber - one on the door and another on the body, just apply some protectant on both (Armor All, 303, etc.) to make the rubber more supple. That's what I did, never heard...

2023 CX-9 Popping Noise - Left Wheel Area

I once had this on my 2021 when it was new. More like a click but also on the driver side so it's probably the same noise. Only happened also in the driveway when the wheels are turned lock to lock. I don't hear it anymore. I'm guessing perhaps the noise is made by tight tolerances somewhere on...

    2007~2015 CX-9 Bumper swap

Toby, I assume you meant the bumper cover. I don't have a definitive answer here but looking at photos online, the 2007-2009 and 2010-2012 bumper covers are grouped separately. The top end looks similar but the the openings for the fog lamps are certainly different in size and orientation. N

2016~2023 CX-9 Motorized front cooling louver - does it move?

If anyone is curious to see it in action, watch the video below. This is on a CX-30 but it seems all modern Mazda models have this. YouTube Link

2016~2023 CX-9 Motorized front cooling louver - does it move?

Hey everyone, So the 2016+ CX-9 has a front cooling louver that supposedly helps warm the engine up by temporarily closing to restrict air flow. In freezing weather perhaps? Anyhow, I don't think I've ever seen them closed at all. Have any of you seen it closed? If so, under what conditions...

Recommendations for replacement struts (2012 CX-9)?

I've always used KYB on all my vehicles (if available) since the 80s. Often a bit firmer than OEM but that's what makes them handle great! 👍

Brake caliper guide pin boot torn (2018 CX-9)

Fawiek, The pin boots are quite flexible and takes quite some force to tear from handling. Maybe yours already had a tear which made it easy to damage? There is usually a round indentation on the caliper where the boot sits firm. Just apply a little bit of brake grease on the round end of the...

    2021 CX-9 Vibrating

Fruit, I think temps play a big role in the Falkens' behavior. It seems to me that the tires do not recover quickly from a flat spot. If the tires sit long enough especially in cold weather, it takes many miles for them to round back out. Having put over 15K miles on mine and worn the tires...

Is the nav system worth it?

My CX9 did not come with a nav card when I bought it but I purchased one on eBay anyway as a sort of back up. I primarily use Android Auto for navigation but in case I'm in an area with poor mobile reception, at least I have that to fall back on. I think it's worth having.
