I'm going to try replacing my rear wheel bearings on my '07 AWD cx-7 with 103,000 miles. I thought it was the tires but the guy at the mazda dealer told me it was the rear bearings. They want $958. My dad is going to do it actually, any special tools needed?

I'm at 103,000 and still going on the original pads, I get my oil changed at the mazda dealer and I think they checked the yellow box so maybe need to change soon. Most of the miles are highway with little traffic so that I think is why not to much wear for a car I've had since june 2006.

Turns out the loud noise is not the tires but bad rear wheel bearings, the mazda dealer quoted me $705 to replace while I was there getting an oil change. I called the guy back (it's been about 3 weeks) and he quoted me $958! I'm going to another mazda dealer tomorrow morning to get another...

I'm at 99, 400 miles now and the Yokohama Parada Spec-X are REALLY loud (at highway speed). I started noticing road noise at about 93-94K. Otherwise, they have done well these 2 past winters in New England.
