Towing teardrop camper with a auto tranny

Looking at the specs as is you can load about 1100lbs inside the 5. You are not to tow anything. The 5 manual states this clearly. So what I was implying was if the 5 could tow the limit would still be 1100ish total weight. 2 adults lets say 300lbs with gear another 200lbs (being very generous...

...and if it is towing that car, it just another example of stupidity. Light end, FWD, completely over loaded with a wet road = trouble.

That 5 is probably parked in front of the trailer and not hooked up. Trolling, not towing.

I really hope, for your safety and others on the road you get pulled over and told to drop your trailer. Saw a few instances of that on our 2 week road trip a few months ago, they don't tolerate it here. It would be a lesson but a good one. Can't image, even if it was rated to do so, towing...

    Spied: 2017 Mazda CX-9

It's like all the F150s with the 3.5L and EcoBoost engines. They just don't compare to a true V8 for power. HP is not HP, torque is not torque all the time. I'd take the naturally asperated V6 over a turbo 4 every time. To add, all these turbo 4 engines need 92+ octane to produce the power...

4 cylinder turbo? Even if it can tow the same as the current V6 it's going to work a lot harder.

Actually, I never said I towed with the 5. I have been advocating never to tow with the 5 at all, lol. As for the hitch, Mazda themselves and local shops (like Burnaby Hitch) only have a tiny 1 1/4" hitch for the 5, which I would Never tow with, regardless of vehicle. I was saying I was fully...

Towing teardrop camper with a auto tranny

^--- this ---^ Another good point. We were loaded for 2 weeks; 16 cubic foot roof box held the light stuff and was packed, 2 adults, 2 kids, cargo area behind 2nd row was full. The 5 could not handle even a tiny 700lbs Boler trailer at that rate. While the 5 did the 1850KM trip fine through...

Road Trip 2015 - gas report

If I found the right conversion to US MPG it equals about 35MPG.

People still saying you can tow with the M5 (smash) Imaging the weight of 4 people, all the gear for a few days plus the weight of the trailer. It would be insane and pure stupidity at the same time. I have done many road trips in the 5, CX-5 and a Ram 1500 Hemi. We actually just got back from...

Road Trip 2015 - gas report

Got back about a week ago from our 2 week camping trip. We covered 1852KM with a Thule 1600 XL roof box and 2 bikes on the back hitch our 2015 5 GS used 6.6L per 100KM. To compare the 2014.5 CX-5 GT AWD we had got about 7.2L per 100KM - without a roof box!

Buying advice now that Mazda5 all but discontinued

I disagree with you. The interior of the MZ5 has more legroom for everyone, more cargo space and a better dash. The CX5 has a tiny LED to show current gear. I prefer the LED strip at the top where its very easy to see information. The infotainment unit is pathetic in the CX5 it really is. I...
