    Problem when hitting the gas

Have any engine fault codes? Eng fail light? Lean mixtures usually cause a hesitation and rich mixtures cause a bogging condition. Just an opinion and nothing more or less.

Sometimes your car has to go thru a *Drive Cycle* before the fault code is turned on so to speak. What a drive cycle consists of is written somewhere. IN the online FSM probably. Anyway, it's got to jump thru a number of hoops before it kicks a fail light again, if indeed there is a failure. No...

    Code P0171 on a 2001 2.0 liter Protege

It was just another cracked duct b/t the MAF and the throttle body. Where the convoluted ridges are. Fabricated a piece of pipe and clamps to replace the cracked part and it's back to normal. Thank you for the responses. On one of my RX-7, if it had a crack in the TID like that Protege, the car...

    P0171 Corrected stalling??? How

I have a similar problem with the P0171. I've been watching the LTFT at idle, in Drive, and when the LTFT gets to the plus 25 the engine stumbles badly and idles lower vs the way it idled in Drive just prior to the LTFT getting to the plus 25. If memory serves, the LTFT goes to zero when this...

    Code P0171 on a 2001 2.0 liter Protege

In idle or neutral the idle is just fine. Put the car in rev or drive while holding the brake results in a bad idle. But I noticed when it is initially put in Drive or Neutral, it will drop in rpms a bit but idle as well as you could expect seeing as it's now under a load. But after a minute or...

Yes. Download the manual from this site and look in the ENGINE section for trouble shooting fault codes. If it's a aftermarket 02 sensor, then check out the place they spliced into the harness. Look for loose connections etc. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123744855

    Code P0171 on a 2001 2.0 liter Protege

Thanks for moving the thread. Just a remark: I would have thought that the Idle air control valve (BAC on RX-7), would have upped the rpms when the PCM saw the load put on the engine when put in Drive. I Thanks for the EGR cleaning thread. I need to find out what makes the EGR solenoid...

    Code P0171 on a 2001 2.0 liter Protege

I have this code P0171. The engine idles fine in Park. The engine idles rough/low in Drive at a stop sign. And only when in Drive. If this was caused by an idle leak at the intake manifold, I would think it would also idle poorly in Park and not just Drive. Any suggestions other than clean...
