Winter is here and my CX-5 turbo is now a 2.0L!

It seems like the answer is with rockethead26's post. If you ask them to update your PCM/TCM, they won't have a problem, but if you ask them to fix the no boost on 1st/2nd below 20deg F, they resist.

Thanks! Takes an artistic sensibility to notice small things like that. I carved those 4 pieces out of car wrap contact vinyl. On hindsight, I think they should have been yellow. Goes better with machine grey. The red really pops with snowflake white.

Winter is here and my CX-5 turbo is now a 2.0L!

Expecting some service centers to give resistance, I was ready to pay for the 18 mins (0.3 hrs) labor to reflash updates to both ECM/TCM, but they were more than happy to accommodate. Even updated infotainment firmware, gave me a complimentary oil/filter change, and offered tire rotation. I was...

Blacklist this service advisor and service center. The Mazda (Palisades Mazda in NY) service center I went to treated me with premium courtesy.

Unsure. Either not affected or owners aren't complaining. Mz6 is only FWD and Mz3 and CX30 are newer version AWD turbo powertrains. I'm particularly curious about Mz6 turbo's torque on 1st and 2nd gears below 20F. If the above is true, all the more reason why I don't think the official reason...

Just got mine reflashed (PCM/TCM) and also infotainment (Type B - latest firmware came in last week according to advisor) this morning. It's about 16 F today and also confirm that we got boost in 1st and 2nd.

Winter is here and my CX-5 turbo is now a 2.0L!

From Mazda's explanation, the difference in TCM/ECM programming between CX5 turbo and CX9 is because of the roughly 500 lb difference to control slippage in 1st and 2nd? Seems odd. ------------ I still think they may have pulled torque as damage control on the CX5 turbo when they started...

Hope it goes smoothly! If it's not too much trouble, it'd be great to compare with your earlier chart at 17 deg:

That's right. Good point. Hadn't considered that timeline. As it stands, my speculation is probably a wrong guess. :D All the more curious, then. --- But what if... they saw reports of the cracks coming in with the CX9s and didn't really know what it was, so to play safe on a guessed cause...

Feels like a deliberate preservation limitation, but still curious about the specific reason(s). I naively SPECULATE that it may be to avoid excessively rocking the motor through high torque, potentially cracking the cylinder head-exhaust manifold join (previous coolant leak TSB-01-013-21)...
