    SkyActiv TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins)

Hi Everyone, I got a notification on my 2016 CX5 6 speed in late December for a re-flash due to unusual idle. I lost the letter and can't seem to find it above. Can someone direct me to it? I have my first service next weekend and want to have it in hand. Thanks

Adding cruise to my Mazda 3

I used to work for Mazda Canada Parts. You need to add the cruise control buttons to the steering wheel, and the brake pedal switch also if you have manual then you also need the clutch pedal switch. Back in the day all the components were plug and play as the vehicle is drive by wire.

    Clutch Chatter when cold

So I got fed up with the rattles and the clutch chatter. Traded it for a 2016 manual 6 speed and clutch is perfect. My daughter who is a new driver noticed the improvement immediately. The sales manager wanted my 2013 for his wife and called me a week later to ask what was up with the clutch...

    Push Button Start

Not going to debate this any further. I work in the industry and what I posted is FACT. Too much speculation on these sites and once in a while I reply to stop the chatter and mis-information.

    Push Button Start

Both NHTSA and Transport Canada do not allow a vehicle to be shut down by itself for any reason while driving to prevent a crash. Imagine leaving your driveway and being T-boned by a tanker truck just as you reached a given limit for your fob to be away from the car while crossing four lanes of...

    Towing Weights

It's not what you can tow should be the question, it's what you can stop! Anything over 50% of vehicle weight should have electric or surge brakes. Also, watch the tongue weight. if it squats the rear of the vehicle too much, you will have steer-ability issues at higher speeds. I tow a...

Upgrading to a Keyless Door Handle button

Typically the vehicle needs a proximity receiver to communicate with the fob when it gets close to the drivers door. This is a separate receiver to the one in the cockpit that acknowledges the fob being present to start the car. In looking at the two wire diagrams in the links below, it does...

Takes forever for the car to warm up ??

Minus 30 here in Ottawa, Canada. If I use the fan on speed 4, I get cool air, however if I use it on speed 2, it's plenty warm. The cold air is passing over the heater core passes way to quickly on speed 4 to capture the heat while on speed 2, it passes the core more slowly thus it has time to...

    Question on towing a boat

Great decision Sarge! Posting your question will help others that are considering towing something that is just to heavy for this awesome vehicle. Way too often the sales reps downplay the towing capacity and don't want to loose a sale. When they are asked to have the owner of the dealership...

    Question on towing a boat

This is considered an unsafe load (an offense under most Highway Traffic Acts) for a light vehicle that has short wheelbase and a max tow capacity of 2,000lbs which includes the mother in law in the back and the case of beer along with full boat fuel tank and whatever weekend toys that you will...

Any way to disable completly driving assist?

Electronic Stability Control (or ESC) is a crash avoidance system found on many recent vehicles. ESC will help you stay in control of your vehicle when you need to swerve or brake suddenly to avoid an obstacle. Transport Canada has introduced the new Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 126...

    "Thunk" sound from rear wheels

My rear brake pads were seizing in the holders. the dealer had to cut the pads away and repaired under warranty as I was still under 20,000kms. Mazda has not yet admitted this is a problem but areas that use liquid de-icer on the freeways increase the problem.

Which brand and type of fuel to feed your CX-5 (Canada)

There was a time back in the early 2000's where Shell had to pay for damaged fuel sending units on customer's vehicles due to damage that an additive caused. The vehicle would indicate a higher level of fuel remaining while the tank was in fact empty. As for Esso in Canada, they took longer...

    Throttle Body Service

The service schedule does not have any set time for this service. It is only as required when and if it gets dirty. This happens only after ~60,000 miles of driving and the air filter was dirty and or driven in high smog areas that causes a greasy condition in the TB. The danger of using spray...

    rear break overheating

Mazda Canada got the Service Manager to contact me to get the car back in. They will change the pads, and refund me for the service. Would have been easier if the Service Advisor A.k.A. order taker simply went to the service manager in the first place.
