what other size tires fit on the stock rims of an 02 P5. the stocks are 195 50 16 and i'm in michigan so these tires have basically been disposable for me as i pop or warp one every week it seems. any other options? do i need to do anything to step up or down? any advantages or disadvantages?

i was looking under there today (low car so it's tough without a ramp) and noticed right at the beginning of the catalytic converter there was some exhaust steam or it was hot and burning off moisture. can they be patched up? maybe with some sort of plumbers epoxy or something like that...
