Anyone installed or watched installation of switching box?

Yes. I've got sirius and navi, and the switchbox successfully allows the center aux port to work as expected.

Anyone installed or watched installation of switching box?

Yup. That's its entire purpose, in fact.

    Lousy Gas Mileage

Unlikely if it's solely city stop & go traffic. The EPA estimate is 15 or 16 for an AWD city rating, and very few humans drive as gently as the EPA loop. 12-14 is about right if you never get up to 6th gear cruise mode, where mileage of 23 or even 24 is possible at the high end.

    Lousy Gas Mileage

Its EPA city rating is either 15 or 16 (AWD, FWD). If you never go more than 5 or 10 miles on the highway, mileage is going to be awfully close to the EPA rating. On tanks that are purely highway, we've seen 22.5 - 23.0, but if it never leaves town, we've seen as low as 14 - 15. If you...

    Spare tire

It doesn't take any seats, all 7 passengers still have seats, the tire does sit vertically behind the third row seat. (where some of their luggage would be, so both the tire and the luggage can't occupy the same space) EDIT: not sure if you meant that the tire could just sit on one of those...

    Wheel center cap fell off

No clue, but one of my other ones was a little loose as well; I popped it back in. Not sure if they can pop out on their own or someone was looking for a souvenir.

    Wheel center cap fell off

I noticed that one of my center caps on my MS3's wheels was missing this morning. This is the little piece (I think it may even be plastic) that is held in the center of the stock wheels. Is there any place that sells replacements for a reasonable price?

    Lousy Gas Mileage

If you're getting those numbers off of the trip computer on the MS3, they are typically 3 mpg - 4 mpg optimistic compared to the actual mileage. Compare a tank or two manually (reset the trip meter when you fill up, on next fillup at same station divide miles by amount of gas it took to fill up...

what are you using for camera mounts on mazdaspeed 3?

It was mounted on the passenger headrest. The headrest needs to be raised a little bit so the mount can go on the bars, but it isn't raised particularly high. The mount ends up pretty much sitting on the outside of the the seat. The only trick was putting one side up just a little higher than...

    Navigation lockout switch

GPS positional accuracy is significantly better with WAAS, it's more like 3 meters rather than 10. But that's not how most GPS devices calculate velocity anyway; velocity is calculated via the dopplar effect on the GPS carrier frequency; it is only augmented by the relative position change...

    Navigation lockout switch

I guess it depends on what you mean by instant. Since it is calculating over time, it isn't instant. But the consumer grade stuff is calculating speed 5 times per second (0.2 seconds between readings), and displaying it once per second. Military grade GPS units can calculate speed 50 to 100...

    Navigation lockout switch

GPS can absolutely determine whether it is moving 5 mph or not; even the cheapo consumer ones have a repeatable resolution of 1 mph. That said, OMF's point is likely spot-on; this can be verified in some basement parking garage to confirm that the lockout enables/disables regardless of no GPS...

    Navigation lockout switch

The programming may not rely on the VSS; the GPS itself can tell its own speed and lock out based on its own speed. In that case the wire to put a switch on would be the GPS antenna. It seems like that's the wire that is switched on the youtube videos of Mazda's with the lockout removed, as...

what are you using for camera mounts on mazdaspeed 3?

Cruisecam works just fine in a MS3. I have a small Sanyo camcorder screwed onto it, and it held it solidly for a trackday this past weekend. Video examples in this post.

    Considering open trackday with MS3

I went out for another open trackday last Friday. I shared the car with a friend (so the person not driving could watch my little one in the paddock). I set up a cruisecam camera mount, so was able to record some in-car action this time. For folks who haven't taken their cars on track yet, I...
