Here we go again, shifter switch replacement

Well, the ol' CX-5 is exhibiting the same behavior it did previously years ago where you put it in park and it sometimes doesn't fully read as in park and when you turn the car off, things like the radio stay on.

Guess even the revised part which was replaced years ago now still wears out.

Apparently a similar issue with the gear select knob exists, similar to this one, with a variety of models in the ~2013-2017+ years. The "lock release button" on the gear select knob can be faulty, causing much the same problem where the IGN/ACC electricals won't shut off despite having pressed "Stop" to turn off the car. In this case, the solution is to swap-out the bad knob/button.

My own 2016.5 CX-5 is covered by this one. Haven't yet seen any issues, with 136Kmi on the clock ... but you never know when it might come along.

Interesting.

My 2014 has the gate style shifter. For me it will mean tearing the center console apart again to replace the part linked above. No button on the shifter.
