2026 Mazda CX-5: Who’s actually getting one?

Hi everyone!
I bought the PP last Thursday and was in service already the next day! Screen went totally blank after only a few hours of ownership! (Telematic Malfuntion) Nothing they can do, service stated that Mazda is aware of the problem and is working on a fix, then they told me to come pick up the car and just drive it as is!

I know someone here did mention that there has been posts about problems already, this is true, many many people reporting the same.

The problem with sending me home, is that 99% of the controls are on the touchscreen. Plus, you get this loud 3 beeps all the time and the dash has also lit up light as Christmas tree. The service department told me that a fix could be tomorrow or month's from now. After doing some research, I found some other owners who were able to take delivery a couple months ago and they have already been waiting month's for an update. I don't know if this is just specific to the PP or the smaller info screen too? But just about everyone who posts the black screen has a PP. There are some people who initially post that, well there car is fine, only to repost in a few days that they too, have the Black Screen of Death.

Another problem, is they force you to download the App so you can have remote start, and the App doesn't work either! Then they are going to charge you $10 a month after the trial period?? LOL

I wouldn't buy one right now, or maybe buy a 2025 instead or wait until 2027?? My dealer refuses to take it back! Nice of Mazda to use us as their Guinea Pigs!
Nobody is forcing you to use or even have the app now that you have taken possession of your PP. The dealership simply needs to know that it was installed before the vehicle leaves the lot. If you're unhappy about being tracked and watched, then remove the app from your phone. When the trial period is up, that's what I will be doing. There is two nice features that the app supplies, if I understand it correctly. One, you get navigation. Your PP probably already has navigation so you're already being tracked and watched anyway, lol. Two, you can get alerts if someone is breaking into your car in real time as long as it's parked where it can receive a satellite signal. Oh, and by the way, your phone is not only tracking and watching you, it's taking video footage and listening in, too. Smile and say hello to Big Brother! :ROFLMAO:

Well, if you want auto start, you ARE forced to download and use the app. No you don't have to have it! They shouldn't state on the list of options that remote start is included because it is not, that's why you are forced to download and use the app.

Also, no, navigation is not included in the app nor is real time tracking. Yes, PP has navigation included. If you do not have navigation you will need to enable Android Auto or Apple, it is not part of the Mazda app. unless you buy and install the SD Navigation card

There are multiple different issues.

Mazda is aware of the issues. No fix yet for the first group but once released the SA will be updated. You have to reach to the dealer to let you know once its available.

Sadly Mazda mentions vehicle driving is not aftected :) so dealers have to instruct the customer to continue driving as is.

Thats the risk with any new platform, the infotainment in this case. They will fix it but takes time.

Mazda is going to end up with some claims or possibly even some lawsuits if they are asking drivers to continue driving without all of the controls that are accessed on the center screen. It could get ugly unless they supply a fix quickly. The issue was already discovered some time ago. What's taking so long?!

This is what I said and why I wouldn't get a car that has extreme dependency on the infotainment system for basic functions in the car. It's a software problem that Mazda has to work through. Adding all the additional functions has just made the software code more bloated and complex. It's not so easy to sift through all the lines of code to figure out where the bug is.

I have question in my own thread!

The door tag in my Gen 3 says it was built on 2/26. Is it too soon to throw a coat of wax on it after a good washing?

I think the guidance is to wait 30 days before you apply anything on top of the paint. With that production date, you're past 30 days.

I would skip waxing. There are lot of products out there for ceramic coating or graphene. I finally got a chance to give my car a good hand wash and I applied one coat of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic coating. I'll apply the second coat to get one year out of the coating before I have to redo the process. I don't know of anyone that is still waxing their car now that there are all the available options for ceramic coating or graphene.

Today, Carnauba wax is for the show car niche. It does things to the depth of color of paint that sealant sprays can't.

But for durability, you want a ceramic sealant if you aren't doing a coating.

Is the ceramic application you're referring to a simple wipe on/dry/wipe off deal? That's all any car of mine get's from me for the first waxing. Down the road after a good wash, I will clay bar it and then apply a new wax coat. That's been my MO for decades and my vehicles always stay new looking.

Yes. The Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions is spray on, wipe the solution across the body panel, and then wipe off with a clean cloth. Again, most car enthusiasts I know have abandoned waxing and gone to ceramic coating or graphene. If you are even contemplating using any of the coatings, you'll save yourself headaches by not waxing the car. The coatings work best with total clean paint. If you wax the car, you'll have to strip all the wax off the car to apply the coatings.

All the vehicles I have ceramic coated have a deep rich gloss. I just wash the vehicles as I normally would and that's it.

I've seen people that have PPF'd their vehicle follow up with ceramic coating over the PPF.

I think the confusion is that you used the term ceramic coating--it's not a coating, it's a sealant. Ceramic coatings cure to a hard layer and last years instead of months. And the application is not spray and wipe.

I put a ceramic coating on my CX-5 but on the MX-5 I used a ceramic spray. There is a big difference in how they perform. I wish I had ceramic coated them both.

Turtle Wax refers to the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic spray as a coating. The way I see it, the Hybrid solutions is not just a sealant but isn't a apply to cure ceramic coating. It occupies the space between the two.

What convinced me to use this spray solution are all the reviews done on it. Here's one where the Youtuber not only showed how the spray performs but also interviewed the head developer at Turtle Wax.

Is having a apply to cure ceramic coating better? Of course. But with how easy it is to apply and the low cost ($16), it's a no brainer for me. And for full disclosure, my 135i has the apply to cure ceramic coating on it. I paid a few hundred dollars for a detailer to apply it as he performed some paint correction before application.

The Hybrid Solutions spray bottle I purchased still has quite a bit of solution in it after applying it on my CX-5, ZX-10R, S1000RR, C650 Sport, and my mom's Rogue Sport. For $16 where I just have to renew it once a year, again is a no brainer.
